Marriage Challenge

   MARRIAGE CHALLENGE
WIVES CHALLENGE: Wives, when you were dating your husband you flirted with him ... and he loved it. Believe it or not, he still loves it. Just because you’re married doesn’t mean you stop flirting with him. Your hubby still needs to know that you desire him. So we challenge you today to spend a little time flirting with him. Here’s a few ideas to help you out...
* Leave a love note on his mirror.
* Touch him.
* Send him a “spicy” text message.
* Give him a “real” kiss when he gets home from work today.
* Wear something that will get his attention & make him say, “Wow”.
* Lay out some lingerie, take a picture of it and send it to your husband's phone with the message, “This is what I’m planning on wearing later tonight.”
Wives ... be creative and get busy today.
HUSBANDS CHALLENGE: Start making plans today for "date night" this week. Start today to discuss with your wife where, when, how, etc of this weekend's date night. Don't wait until the last minute and YOU be the instigator and planner on this. You are in charge. You MUST make all the plans. Don't let any of the following excuses keep you from spending time with your spouse...
* I'm tired
* It's too cold
* It's too hot
* It's raining
* It's too late
Date night this weekend ... let's do this! Spend an evening with your wife, just you and her, and give her your undivided attention. No phones.
Don't forget that one of the worst things you can do in your marriage is get comfortable and quit trying ... DON’T get comfortable.

Friday:
Worked til 5 pm, was exhausted when I got home , took a hot shower ( amazing how a shower makes you feel human again) , took an hour nap- fell asleep with towel on my hair( not a good idea), hubby dropped Brooke off to our Youth Leader, they were going to another city about 45 minutes away for a youth lock in... She would be home noon on Saturday  ( why is she all grown up already?)

And he wanted to get hot sauce , loves his hot n spicy food.
I took a nap when I got groceries packed away, then we had taco night, hubby had to leave shortly after for a meeting, so Brooke and I had a movie night with chips, pop corn and chocolate, we watched Dolphin tale II, it was a fun night with my baby girl.

Sunday:
We went to sunday service, cooked a nice ham dinner and had Moses over for some lunch, I also made a carrot cake, it was all so good, after sunday PM service we went out for Mcdonald's with some friends.

Remembering Kara Tippett's

This post has been on my heart and mind for over a week now so I figured I had best get the words out of my mind.

Last Sunday the world lost an amazing lady, one who never wanted attention on her, she wanted the attention to be on Jesus, she wanted all who knew her to know how much Jesus loves them.

She has battled with breast cancer for about 3 years. And even though she had cancer Kara always had so much faith! Every time I read her blog, I leave inspired and motivated to live life in the fullest way possible!

I never had the privilege to meet her in real life, I read her blog, her book ( the hardest piece), I checked her website/facebook page every single day, last sunday when I signed on and saw she is now an angel, my heart dropped, I know she was anxious to go home with Jesus, but I know he family are hurting without her

When I checked her instagram out, so many people shared things about Kara that they loved and most of the comments was about the love she showed to everyone, she shared Jesus with her friends, family and they appreciated that of her.

Even though I never met her in person, I feel such a connection with her, not even sure why.... well yeah I do... I don't have cancer, but I do know Jesus and some day we will meet in Heaven.

Until then Rest easy Kara.

Wife Talk- Cheap Date Nights

  1. the coffee house. Coffee's are pricey when you're spending nearly $5 per coffee/day; however if you take your sweetheart to the coffee house and spend an hour or two on the patio chatting about life and flirting, $10.00 turns out to be a pretty inexpensive date.
  2. the fireplace. Especially with fall weather approaching. Find a sitter and then go back home, start up a fire, grab a blanket, and snuggle.
  3. a simple walk in the park. This date idea tends fade out after you've been married for a couple of years, but never underestimate the walk in the park. Great conversations, holding hands, and a few little pecks on the cheek make the park a fun little memory.
  4.  cook together. Find something that's both delicious and somewhat challenging to make. Make sure you have a couple of candles on standby to enjoy the meal after you've cooked it together.
  5. drive to a nearby town. Sometimes we tend to adjust to our home town and feel like we're confined to the invisible city limit walls. Look up a local nearby town and drive to it. Get out and walk around and try to find a fun little hole in the wall place to eat. If it's delicious, you'll go back; if not, you'll have a good laugh!
  6. fire pit and s'mores. Something that can be done in all seasons of the year, but obviously my favorite is fall. Put a big comfy sweater on and hang out by the fire.
  7. take a stroll downtown. And take your camera.
  8. Take a scenic drive
  9. Make a fire outside. This is free and hands down, the best date ever.

5 Rules of a healthy marriage

1. Stay Faithful- do not go sleeping around or flirting with other women and men. You made a vow and you need to keep that vow.

2) Make them feel loved and wanted- when they leave for work- kiss them, when they arrive home kiss them, ask how their day was etc. During the day send a little flirty text msg.  Let them know you are so thankful for all they do.

3) Respect your spouse- Show him respect, he is the head of the house, he deserves to be respected.

4) Don't flirt with others- Don't watch pornography, keep yourself to her for as long as you both shall live.

5) Always make time for each other-  weekly date nights, spend 20-30 chatting with him each day... sleep in the same bed as they do, to many couples are now sleeping in different rooms- not for me... that wouldn't keep a marriage.

We had her birthday party at 5 m, so I met Andrew and Brooke at Pizza delight, I didn't take a lot of pictures ( just one in fact) I took them both of guard

Have a great week my friends.

Happy 31st Birthday to our angel

Your birthday is here again, it is a birthday that I could NEVER forget, when we have a family as big as ours, it is easy to forget birthdays, thanks to face book now I get a notification... but your birthday has been on my mind for the past few weeks

From the time you were an infant baby to a toddler to a tween-ager, a teenager, a grown adult, you had a special place in my heart that can never be filled by another person, this place only belongs to you.

So often I go to msg you on FB to tell ya something that I knew you would be happy for, you wanted to know how Brooke and Andrew was every time we talked, you loved them both as they loved you.

You liked to do crafts- painting, cross stitch, plastic canvas, knit, anything that kept you busy, you enjoyed.
You loved to go for walks in the evenings with a friend, they would roll you in your wheel chair, sometimes stopping for a ice cream or at Jessie's store for a treat. You always had a funny story to tell us.
I think of all our trips to Baie Verte with sis and Ninny ( Stephanie and Jennifer), you and i would sit in the car most of the times just laughing and chatting about what ever.

We had a lot of fun times together from the time i cooked you hamburgers, to the conversations while you were in the hospital, I miss you so much Marcie

You with your nephew who you adored.

This birthday you have a cancer free body, you have no spinal bifida, you do not need a wheel chair, you are celebrating with the angels with a brand new body, I can just see you jumping around as you blow out your birthday candles, you are free of leg braces, free of sickness, you are in Heaven and even though I miss you, you would not want to come back to this crazy world.  This year you are celebrating with family that are in heaven with you, I can hear you and Uncle Sam as you called him, chatting about how wonderful heaven truly is.

You were incredible in every thing you did or said- you loved helping people, you loved having people visit you, you loved hanging out with friends, you always had a good word to say to encourage someone. You always had something encouraging on your Facebook, you are missed so much.
 You were loved by everyone.

To say I miss you is an under statement, when Rachel told me she was expecting again, the first person I went to tell was you, only to find out you were not there anymore, Taylor misses his Auntie Marcie, Stephanie misses you- you guys spent so much time together, Jennifer- misses you, she misses telling you all about Taylor, even though i'm sure you can look down and see him every second of every day, Stefan misses you- he feels the pain of you not there when he walks by your room, your Mom and Dad- they miss you more then words can every say, they say time heals but it really don't... I miss you more now then I ever did.

I know a birthday in heaven is the best Birthday you ever had.

Happy Birthday to our Angel

I love and miss you

Liebster Award

I have been Nominated for the Liebster Award!

I’m so excited that Terri-Grothe has been nominated for the Liebster Award!
I was nominated by Sherri -Making it pay to stay
 thank you so much!
What is a Liebster Award? Well, according to Wordingwell.com here are the details:
  • This award exists only on the internet, and is given to bloggers by other bloggers.
  • It has German origins – the word “liebster” has several definitions: dearest, sweetest, kindest, nicest, beloved, lovely, kind, pleasant, valued, cute, endearing, welcome, sweetheart and boyfriend (really?)
  • It follows similar principles as a chain letter, in the sense that it should be passed forward to a certain number of people.
  • It can be misconstrued, depending upon your personal views, as either something wonderful (who doesn’t like awards?) or as an annoyance (a chain letter that involves work).
  • The choice lies within each of us to ACCEPT it, and continue PAYING IT FORWARD or to refuse to accept it, thereby STOPPING or INTERRUPTING the chain. However, if you stop the chain, you are only hurting yourself (keep reading for benefits you will have)!
  • Personal views play an important part in our choice to participate. Some people have refused to accept it and have made attempts to “break the chain”. There have been many people who have been nominated, yet refused to accept it, and now their blogs have been abandoned.
  • Variations have been made over time to the “rules”.
  • Marketing plays a role in accepting this award, as other bloggers are promoted. (This is not a bad thing, however, since people should help others!)
  • Other awards are a part of the whole “meme“. These include “One Lovely Blog Award”, the “Sunshine Blog Award” and the “Versatile Writer Award”.
It is said that the Liebster award was created to recognize and/or discover new bloggers and welcome them to the blogosphere. In the digital world of the internet, this seems like a nice gesture, in my opinion!

Now, here are the Liebster Award Rules:
1. Acknowledge and link back your nominator–that’s me.
2. Answer 11 questions given by the nominator.
3. Nominate other bloggers who have less than 200 followers.
4. Think of 11 new questions to ask your nominees.
5. Let your nominees know that you have nominated them

Here are the 11 questions from Sherri that I need to answer:
1. Do you know what will happen to you when you die and why? I know my soul will go to heaven, I know that because I know Jesus as my personal saviour

2. Who is/was the most positive influence on your life and why? My grandpa who passed away last May, he was such a positive and upbeat person, never negative or upset

3. As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up? I wanted to be a nurse, even though to this day I'm not, I still really want to

4. What has been the most difficult experience in your life and what did you learn from it? Being diagnosed with an incurable bladder disease, Intersistial Cystsis , it is a chronic pain and has interrupted my entire life

5. What’s a life long dream that you’ve had that you would do if money were no object? A 6 month trip to Bora Bora with my husband and daughter

6. What is your biggest fear? Losing my husband and daughter and being alone

7. Where is your favorite location in the entire world?  I love Charlotte North Carolina and Kansas City

8. What are you most insecure about? Myself-  I am not one of these people who is always taking selfies and plastering my picture everywhere, I struggle with little to no self esteem

9. What are you really great at? I like to think I'm great at being a friend, I like to be there for my friends

10. What do people come to you for advice on? Marriage especially since I started my marriage and family blog

11. In your opinion, what is the world’s most pressing issue that needs to be addressed? The absolute horror that is going on this world with I S I S, it scares me but I know it's all going to ok , the other thing is world hunger, it really hurts to see little babies etc

Wife Talk- Ways to Out serve your husband

  • Make his coffee in the morning and have it hot and ready for him on his way out the door.
  • Cook his favorite meal and have his favorite dessert waiting on him shortly after dinner.
  • If he's a dad, give him a "duty-free" night from the kids. You clean 'em up after dinner, get them ready for bed, and put them in bed.
  • Pray for him. It's something he won't physically see you do, but if you pray for strength, joy, and favor for him throughout his work day, he'll have a better day at work!
  • He has to have a favorite outfit he likes to see you wear. Have it on when he gets home.
  • Put gas in his vehicle for him. This is especially nice in the cold season!
  • If he has "husband chores" then surprise him and do them for him. (trash, mowing, etc...)
  • Don't nag.
  • Organize his closet or his dresser drawers.
  • Let him pick the t.v. show/movie to watch.
  • Take his vehicle through the car wash before you head home.
  • When you see him pulling into the drive way, get him a hot shower/bath ready so he can jump right in when he walks through the door
  • Let him sleep in one morning...even if it means you have to get the kids and leave the house for an hour.
  •  You know what he likes in the bedroom. Do it.
  • Plan a date. (it's not always up to the guy...)
  • Surprise him with his favorite snack/drink at work.
  • Buy him a small "thinking of you" gift.
  • Most importantly, use your imagination. You know your husband best. You know his likes/dislikes. What relaxes him/what irritates him. Write a personal list of your own ideas and keep it in your pocket on the day(s) you decide you want to out-serve your husband.
What are some things you do for your husband?

Answers to Questions you asked

  • Last week I asked you what are some things you wanted to ask me, I opened the blog up to you, here are the answers to those questions.

  • What is your favorite type of coffee? :)
~ I love Vanilla bean coffee either from starbucks or a keurig that I can brew at home. I love drinking tea though, there was a while a couple months back that I needed a coffee, but because of my bladder disease I had to quit caffeine for a while, when I went back i decided to drink tea, I love tim hortons tea ( a coffee shop here in Canada that is popular, they are opening some int he US too from what I saw last summer

  • What helps you reset when the days get insane?
  • ~ I am the worst person to reset myself, I take on more and more jobs and wear myself thin, shed some tears, cry on my hubby's shoulder and pray, I pray for peace and comfort to get thru the day.  Most days I do not reset until work is over for the day, then I make dinner for the family, tidy the kitchen and take a hot bath, then get in my pi's and watch some mindless tv.

What are your favorite ways to relax?
  • ~ I love to write, I write when i am stressed, I write when I am relaxed, I just find getting my thoughts out on paper helps me relax especially if I am stressed over one thing in particular, I talk to my hubby, my brother, or my best friend, I love to read as well, give me a good book and I am a happy girl

  • How long have you been blogging?
~I started when I was about 16 with Xanga- my hubby and I blogged together, then I got married and had a baby and my life got busy so I stopped for awhile, then I blogged secretly and no one knew about it. I opened this blog 3 years ago when we moved to a new Province( State) so my family could get an update on Brooke.. I love blogging, I love the family that you get from it, we are a big happy family.

  • What is your favorite thing to do with your family?
  • ~ We love to try out restaurants, we go on walks int he park especially in the fall, we watch movies, we love to hang out together and do nothing much.  We love road trips, playing games just being together

  • What is your favorite thing to write about?
  • ~When I first started I had no idea what I would write about besides Brooke and our new life here, but the more I wrote, I felt it was super boring, I got no comments, no feed back, nothing.. so I started writing Wednesdays for Women- a devotional for women, that was a huge hit, then a friend suggested I write some marriage posts, the more I write the more people emailed and asked if I could write on certain things, this is how I realize my niche was marriage and family.
  • I love writing about marriage, I have the best man in the world and I want other ladies to feel this same way and if something I write can help them, then I am so happy.
  • That was a long answer :)
What is a typical Day Like?
My alarm goes off at 9:30 am, I make tea and breakfast which consists of toasts or cold cereal.
I work for 10 am, I work at home so I just work in my pi's.
Work for 2 hours, take a break, work another 2 hours and take an hour lunch which includes starting dinner or a nap.
Work til 5 when my family gets home and take last break so I can eat with my family.
I work til 7- then once I am off... I take a bubble bath and get in my pi's and hang out with my family or watch some mindless tv, other nights if I have errands to run, I do them when I am off at 7.
Go to bed around 11:30- midnight.

9 SIMPLE WAYS TO SHOW YOUR WIFE LOVE…

Showing love to your wife every day. Love doesn't mean five-star restaurants or tropical island getaways. It's the simple things that matter most.
While dream vacations and life milestones are important, it’s the little things you do that make your wife happy. Show love and respect to your bride every day, and remind her why you were the best choice she's ever made. Here are 10 basic tips for showing every day love...
1. Introduce her with a compliment. Saying something like “I’d like you to meet my beautiful wife,” or “Here’s my better half” goes farther than you may realize. Publicly recognizing her as your cherished partner validates that you love her.
2. Embrace when you see her. At the end of a long day conquering office battles and keeping the kids from climbing walls, you could both use a loving hug. Make a point of showing you missed her and are glad to be reunited. A big kiss doesn’t hurt, either.
3. Ask her how you can help. If this is a new one for you, she may think there’s a catch. With a sincere willingness to give a helping hand, ask how you can lift her burden. This gesture applies to more than yard work, but being in tune with her needs emotionally and spiritually, as well. Sometimes she just needs a listening ear.
4. Let her pick the movie. Or, if you’re playing games, let her choose. She needs to know her opinion counts in your marriage. Taking turns with these simple choices makes it easier to compromise on the bigger choices together.
5. Forgive her fast. She forgot to pack your lunch, or accidentally broke your TV remote. So, she’s human, after all? With all that she does right, let it go when she makes mistakes. After all, forgiveness goes both ways and you’ll want it too.
6. Hold her hand in public. Some women are less inclined to public displays, but when appropriate, reach out and squeeze her hand. With the reassurance you’re proud she’s yours, she’ll walk a little taller, and smile a little bigger.
7. Write her love letters. You don’t have to be Shakespeare; the thought matters most here. Focus on specific things you love about her; the wrinkle in her nose when she laughs or how she finds joy in the little things. You can hide it in her makeup bag, under her pillow, or somewhere else she'll discover it. She’ll be happily surprised and treasure your words for years to come.
8. Open the door for her. Chivalry is not dead. Opening the door is a gentlemanly way to take care of your lady. She likely grew up wanting to be a princess. Be her prince.
9. Carve out time for consistent date night. In an on-the-go digital world, it’s easy to get caught up in the minutia of kids, work, community, extended family and even church responsibilities. Set aside a weekly special night just for the two of you. It doesn’t need to be costly or extravagant. Just make an effort to court her, as you did when you were dating.

Marriage and Money

I am no Pro on this topic and we are not debt free (yet), we are working towards that though and it is all thanks to Dave Ramsey and our Pastor who taught on financial peace, we immediately saved our emergency fund as Dave suggest- that emergency fund is not a "rainy day fund" or some "money for when your bored", this is money for an actual emergency, i.e.: what if your car breaks down, or a family member passes away (etc), money that you can both agree it is an emergency.  We do a monthly budget and we budget every cent, right down to every penny, we give each other allowances, this is for coffee, clothing ( that we want and not need), shoes ( I DO NOT need any new shoes)... if Brooke needs something this is budgeted for.
Since following Dave Ramsey- we took a 18 day vacation all with Cash- we do not Own credit cards, we used cash for everything on the trip and it felt so amazing to be able to come back and still have money in the bank.

Some Rules to get ya thinking the right way about money

1) By far, rule number one is, "don't spend more than you make." Doesn't matter if you make $500,000 a year or $5000 a year ... DON'T spend more than you make.
2) Life isn't about working and making money, it's about relationships. No one on the deathbed ever said, "I wish I would have spent more time in the office."
3) Don't make major purchases without talking them over together.
4) Communicate with your spouse about money, bills and finances.
5) Don't hide purchases from your spouse. That's dishonest.
6) Refuse to use credit cards (they are TROUBLE).
7) Educate yourself by attending a Dave Ramsey "Financial Peace" class (excellent) or reading his book.
8) Set aside a little money for some fun things to do together as a couple (date night, etc). This doesn't have to be much ... just make sure you invest $$ in your relationship too.
9) Strive to live debt free. It will make your marriage relationship SO much less stressful.

Weekend Recap

Friday:
I did not work Friday or the day before that and the afternoon before that, been off for 2.5 days and it feels so good. More details coming as to why later :) No, I am not sick
Thursday I went and had my hair done, here ya go- I am curly curly

We went out with my friend Cristie, she worked til 6:30, {she is a nurse}, we went out for chinese food, hubby and Brooke went out as well, they have been sick and finally coming around. They came on home after we ate, her and I went out for frozen yogurt and then came back here for chats, it was a nice night.

Saturday:
A very early morning for us- Brooke had the District Science Fair for 8 am//I may have gone back to bed, but I would never admit that ;)
We left the house around 11 to drive to the next town over to pick up my prescription, then we came back to a grocery store, I wanted to pick up a dessert and a fresh turkey- sometimes I get in a craving for turkey dinner.  We then went to Super walmart and got some groceries.

After that we went to see my girlie at her science fair
They didn't come in 1, 2 or 3 but it was a great experience for her.
After that, Daddy decided his girly needed a better cell phone, she got one back in July but she wasn't t happy with it, I tried to persuade her to do an iPhone but she is an android girl like her daddy so I best get out of the way and keep my apple products to myself :p
Hubby made a delicious dinner for us:
Pad Thai noodles with shrimp, I couldn't get enough of it.

Sunday:
Woke to a blizzard, I know it is almost the first day of spring and we are getting up to 30 cms of snow, I am tired of winter but today has been great for blogging and for reading, off course for drinking tea.

Have a great week sweet friends

Review- Bella's gift

This is an incredible book.
It was one of those that I could not put down, the tears would run freely down my face.
I was deeply moved by the beautiful story of this strong little girl and a loving family. Rick and Karen have opened up and shared the details of their daughter Bella. The book reads like a novel, but its a true story of hope of a remarkable little girl who beat the odds. Their youngest baby daughter was born with Trisomy 18. Most babies born with Trisomy 18 do not survive past a few days. "The doctors later told us that Bella-that Bella was incompatible with life. And to prepare to let go.
They share their story from their point of view.
They did not give up fighting for their baby girl, even when doctors told them to let go, they did not. They held on, they fought for her
This book is not about living with a child with special needs. It is not about a family that attempted to run for presidential office. It is about a family who has learned through various challenges and opportunities that life is precious, God given, and valued. Every life is one that should be advocated, treasured, and honored. It is a book filled with honesty, pain, love, joy, and passion.

Get yourself a copy of this book, you will not be sorry.

I was gifted this book in exchange for my honest review.

Loved back to life- Sheila Walsh

Sheila shared her heart in this book.
She shared the real and the raw of her life.
How she was in a psychiatric hospital, yet she was loved back to Life.
She was in a dark place in her life and thought her ministry was over.

Loved Back to Life, a spiritual memoir, bursts the boundaries of its genre by teasing out biblically sound teaching from the narrative of Sheila’s anguish and recovery process, and also by debunking some of the faulty theology that shames and silences individuals and their families who suffer from mental illness.

She is a world known Woman of Faith speaker and author of several award winning books.

Fantastic read, the truth will set you free. Get real before God and self. Powerfully testimony of God's love. Depression is real, even with Christians, the wisdom of God reigns supreme.
Thank you Sheila for sharing your heart.

I was given this book for the purpose of a review thru Book Look Bloggers.

Review: Unveiled Wife- Jennifer Smith

Embracing Intimacy with God and your husband

When I went to the mail box and saw this book, I ran home, I could not wait to start reading, I was into another book and wanted to finish it first, I started reading this book and then I couldn't put it down, I read it within 2 hours.

She shared her entire life in this book, when I first came across the blog, I was thinking she was this perfect wife and nothing would ever go wrong in her life, then I read her book....
then you realize this person is like the rest of us, she had problems in her marriage just like many of us had or has.

She shared her struggle with intimacy, she shared the raw and real details of her struggles and then to get to the end of the book and realize that it was all from her face wash.
This is a book that every woman needs to read, when you do face problems do not give up, keep pressing on, it will get better.

Thank you Jennifer for allowing me to review this book.

Wife Talk- Being a submissive wife

Being a submissive wife.
Today my friend Whitney is talking about Being a Submissive Wife
Being a submissive wife is something that I personally believe is highly disregarded in today's time and perhaps the reasoning being due to misunderstanding the heart of God on the matter. Colossians 3:18 - wives, submit to your husbands, as it is fit in the Lord.

Submission is not:
Avoiding every disagreement between you and your husband because he said so.
Being treated as if you are under your husband's feet.
The weaker link.
Being a slave.
The doormat that he wipes his dirty shoes on.

Submission is allowing your husband to take leadership and fulfill his duty of being head of the household. A healthy marriage consists of a team; teams make decisions together but there's always a leader who has the ultimate say. This is how God set it up and he gave the husband the ultimate say. But husband's don't get off easy; In fact, a husband should read this post just as much as the wife simply because submission comes a lot easier when the husband takes on his role of loving his wife as Christ loved the church. When the husband is committed to his wife and loves her like Christ loves the church, the 2 naturally want to serve each other.

Wives, understand the importance of your husband's role. Do not take it lightly. God gave the husband/father the position of head of the household so understand that he will one day have to answer for the decision he made for his family.

Be supportive of your husband.
Encourage him.
Pray for him.
Be his biggest fan.
And submit to him, because ultimately you are submitting to God.

Here are a few ways to Rekindle Romance

Here are a few ways to Rekindle Romance:

Revisit Your History

Tell each other what you saw in one another when you first met. What was it about your true love that intrigued and attracted you?
--> when I first met hubby, it was love at first sight for me, I was sitting across from him at the dinner table, i told my cousin without even knowing his name that I would marry him, she thought I was nuts but it was true and I did.

Run Away . . . Together
We always run away for a night in Dec, we do it every year, it is a tradition and we look forward to it.  We also take a night away in May for our anniversary- it's just us, our love and romance.

Remember and Reflect
"Tomorrow morning, get your eyes off the toast . . . long enough to LOOK at your spouse . . . Look at his or her hands," wrote Ed Wheat, author of Love Life for Every Married Couple. "Do you remember when just to look at those hands made your heart lift? Well, LOOK … and remember. Then loose your tongue and tell him or her how you feel . . . Ask the Lord to give you a sentimental, romantic, physical, in-love kind of love for your spouse. God will do this. His love in us can change the actual physical quality of our love for our spouses."

I love how this author urges readers to go beyond remembering to reflection. Don’t keep your warm thoughts to yourself. Speak them to your spouse. Also, speak them as thankfulness to God. Apostle Paul says, "Every time you cross my mind, I break out in exclamations of thanks to God," Philippians 1:3 (NIV). Can you imagine how much love we’d feel toward our spouse if we did that? Can you imagine how loved we’d feel if our spouse did the same?

"Identify your spouse’s positive characteristics and choose to thank God for these traits," adds Gary Chapman, author of The Four Seasons of Marriage. "Thank God that your spouse is made in his image and is therefore extremely valuable. Thank God that your spouse is uniquely gifted and has a unique role to play in the Kingdom of God. Thank God that marriage was his idea and ask him to give you the ability to be his messenger by communicating positive statements to your spouse. Then begin to express appreciation for the positive traits you observe in your spouse. You can choose a winning attitude even when your spouse shows no interest in improving your marriage."

Relate
To me romance means wooing someone. Nothing solicits my affections more than when John puts my needs above his. And you know what? It makes me want to return the gesture . . . simply out of consideration.

Do you need to rekindle the romance in your marriage relationship?
