5 Simple Ideas to Save Moms Time!

5 Life Hacks To Help Save Moms Time!

As a working mom, I am always trying to find ways to make life easier and simpler.

All moms know that saving time on the little things is key. It’s not often that we can just sit around without someone asking us to do something or take someone somewhere or make someone something. We love our job, but it’s relentless.

The moment we take a seat, and as soon as our derriere hits the couch, we hear…
“Mom, Mom, Mom.”

So, here are 5 simple life hacks that can help us save time, so we can get back to our families (or maybe even the couch).

  • Shopping Online
Almost every shop now is giving us the freedom to shop online, so we can shop for every occasion in our pj's or from our work desk.  Merchants can practically ship everything today, no matter what you’re searching for! Amazon prime is my new favorite, it is here the next day.  I also do a lot of shopping on Etsy, there are so many stay at home mom's who have shops on Etsy and I love to support small businesses.

  • Healthy Frozen Meals

They really do exist nowadays. Look for the Jamie Oliver brand. It’s easier, healthier and cheaper than ordering in or buying prepared meals- you can also meal plan and have one day per week where you can cook up several meals and freeze them so they are readily available, one day last week I made two lasagne’s- one in gluten free and one regular as my husband is GF, then I also made a beef stew as that is perfect for fall temps that we are now getting here, I also made a chilli and I froze it all so we can have lunches quickly and also when I am working my husband and daughter can have dinner's.

  • Time Sharing

Taking your kids to extracurricular with other moms. Prepare a take-a-turn schedule with other parents in your neighborhood to lessen the workload.
  • Mobile car detailing services.
I don't know about your car but my car is always a mess with kids eating between sports games, after school snacks etc, I do not have the time it takes to clean the care so when I heard of mobile car detailing I knew it was something that sounded amazing and I need more info on it. . For example, this service from The Greater Toronto Area: Wash Me Now https://www.washmenow.ca/ Totally mobile and totally convenient! They bring water and electricity no matter where your car is- I love that they bring their own water and electricity and they will clean your car anywhere.. the beach, the cottage, the front yard anywhere you are.

  • Time management

I am a big planner girl so I use my planner to schedule out my daily life. I use it weekly, monthly and yearly to plan things that are happening even next year, this planner is always in my purse and I use it all the time. My favorite type of Mom planner is https://dokibook.com/

Bonus tip: As mothers, we deserve to relax and what better way than to sit down with a cup of tea. Tea Sante http://www.teasante.com/ will deliver right to your door so you don't have to go out and find tea when you want to relax. There are so many flavors and types to choose from. They have black tea, Rooibos, herbal, organic and even iced for those hot summer days. Rooibos is one of my favorite teas, sit down with tea while you watch your favorite TV show or read a book... it really makes me relax after a stressful day at work or a day of cooking and cleaning house.  It is relaxation at it's finest.

What do you do to relax after a busy day?

5 GIFTS YOU MUST GIVE YOUR KIDS....

1. THE GIFT OF A GOOD MARRIAGE: We wish as parents we’d realize that a vital marriage between you and your spouse is the best gift you could ever give your kids. It’s better than anything you can purchase at the store. When you model a healthy marriage, they learn how to do marriage themselves.
2. THE GIFT OF TIME: Don't believe the lie that quality is more important than quantity time. The only way to give quality time is to invest quantity time in your children’s lives.
3. THE GIFT OF DISCIPLINE: Discipline is a debt that we owe our children. I thought it was interesting that a recent survey showed that eighty-seven percent of college students said their parents weren’t strict enough on them. Make rules and set boundaries and stick to them. You are to be their parent, more than their buddy.
4. THE GIFT OF SPIRITUAL TRAINING: We wish as parents we’d see that spiritual training is not optional but essential. Families today don’t need a small dose of God, they need a large dose of God. Children need spiritual training.
5. THE GIFT OF INTEGRITY: We wish as parents we’d practice what we preach. I wish we wouldn’t tell our children one thing and then do just the opposite. That has to be so confusing to our children. Practice what you preach and model values and integrity!
Do you agree or disagree with these?

6 EASY WAYS TO SHOW YOUR SPOUSE YOU LOVE THEM

<3
1. Talk good about them to everyone, even when they are not around.
2. Put your phone down when they come in, ask them about their day ... and listen to what they have to say.

3. Love them always, even on days they're not the easiest to love.
4. Be honest and loyal. Two traits that show love.
5. Allow them to be who they are without trying to constantly "fix" them to be more like you.
6. Adore them for what they look like on the outside AND inside.

Review of NKJV Study Bible

I do love to collect bibles, I love to have them in my library and bring them out from time to time to study and look up God's word so it is in my heart.

I love this study Bible, good quality, and the paper not too thin. Good size to take to church and Bible study class. The print is better for younger eyes but clear enough with glasses. Love the teal green color and its very soft and pliable fur use. I love the NKJV to use with my KJV, they compliment well together.

I love the commentary, where Christ is in the scriptures, the date time line as well as the book outline, the harmony of the gospels and so much more. I will need to but another one for me!

14 Gospel Principles of Parenting - Review

In the midst of folding laundry, coordinating carpool schedules, and breaking up fights, many parents get lost. Feeling pressure to do everything "right" and raise up "good" children, it's easy to lose sight of our ultimate purpose as parents in the quest for practical tips and guaranteed formulas.

Tripp discusses what "ownership" parenting looks like. The results are parents who try to control their kids with fear, shame, and rewards. Instead of loving our children and being used by God, we manipulate, coerce, and use tactics that don't bring change. Instead, all our efforts bring stressful home lives and children who disobey. Ownership parenting is not how God designed us to live as parents. Tripp takes us on the journey of what parenting should look like as ambassadors for Christ. We can rest knowing that God will take care of our children.

Here are the chapters and the principles laid out:
1. Calling - Nothing is more important in your life than being one of God's tools to form a human soul
2. Grace: God never calls you to a task without giving you what you need to do it. He never sends you without going with you.
3. Law: Your children need God's law, but you cannot ask the law to do what only grace can accomplish.
4. Inability: Recognizing what you are unable to do is essential to good parenting.
5. Identity: If you are not resting as a parent in your identity in Christ, you will look for identity in your children.
6. Process: You must be committed as a parent to long-view parenting because change is a process and not an event.
7. Lost: As a parent you're not dealing just with bad behavior, but a condition that causes bad behavior.
8. Authority: One of the foundational heart issues in the life of every child is authority. Teaching and modeling the protective beauty of authority is one of the foundations of good parenting.
9. Foolishness: The foolishness inside your children is more dangerous to them than the temptation outside of them. Only God's grace has the power to rescue fools.
10. Character: Not all of the wrong your children do is a direct rebellion to authority; much of the wrong is the result of a lack of character.
11. False Gods: You are parenting a worshiper, so it's important to remember that what rules your child's heart will control his behavior.
12. Control: The goal of parenting is not control of behavior, but rather heart and life change.
13. Rest: It is only rest in God's presence and grace that will make you a joyful and patient parent.
14. Mercy: No parent gives mercy better than one who is convinced that he desperately needs it himself.

A book every parent needs :)

Review of Love Bears all things

Beth Wiseman has done her magic once again in this new book in the Amish genre!! This is the second in a new series entitled "Amish Secrets". "Her Brother's Keeper" won me over, but I must say that I think this second book is even better!! This author has created a tale that grabs the reader's attention from the first page, immersing you in the plot taking place in an Amish community but differing from the norm in Amish fiction. Very complex issues are addressed in a sensitive, meaningful fashion. We rarely see how the Amish address drug addiction, depression and dealing with life changing abusive childhoods. Beth takes us to another level with her book.
it was a story that I never wanted to stop reading, i stayed up late into the night and read it simply because it was so thought provoking.

9 WAYS TO SPICE UP YOUR MARRIAGE TODAY...

💋💋💋
1. SEND A FLIRTY TEXT MESSAGE. You may not have time to talk during the day, so take a second to send a text message that says something like, "Can't wait to see you tonight," or "How did I get so lucky to have you?", or spice it up with, "Can't wait to get my hands on you when you get home." They will love it.
2. PICK THEM UP A LITTLE SURPRISE. For no reason at all, pick up their favorite candy bar, bring them their favorite drink from the coffee shop, or buy her a gift certificate for a manicure. Then simply leave it where they can find it.
3. GO ON A DATE. Planning a night out without the kids is healthy for your relationship. Line up a babysitter and then put your phones away and focus on one another.
4. DRESS UP. Everyone loves the comfort of sweats or an old pair of shorts, but take time to dress up for your spouse. Put on cologne/perfume and something nice that will make your spouse say, "Wow, you look amazing!"
5. OFFER A MASSAGE. After a long day, is there anything better than a good massage to spice up your relationship?
6. HAVE A LITTLE PDA. Don't let the "public displays of affection" stop once you're married. Hug, hold hands, kiss or snuggle up close to one another in public ... it's legal now ... you're married. smile emoticon
7. GIVE YOUR BEDROOM A ROMANTIC MAKEOVER. This is the room where the magic happens, so add some candles, some mood-lighting or some silk sheets.
8. EXPRESS YOUR LOVE. Write them a short love note stating what you love about them. Leave them a note in their briefcase, purse or on their bathroom mirror. We promise they'll love it.
9. MAKE BEDTIME FUN TIME. Guys, it's been a long day, so make sure you shower and smell nice. Wives, instead of picking sleepwear like socks, sweats and an oversized t-shirt, grab something lacy, silky or nothing at all.

10 CHARACTERISTICS OF HAPPY COUPLES

What does it take to be happy in a relationship? If you’re working to improve your marriage, here are the 10 habits of happy couples.

1. GO TO BED AT THE SAME TIME. Remember the beginning of your relationship, when you couldn’t wait to go to bed with each other to make love? Happy couples resist the temptation to go to bed at different times. They go to bed at the same time, even if one partner wakes up later to do things while their partner sleeps. And when their skins touch it still causes each of them to tingle and unless one or both are completely exhausted to feel sexually excited.

2. CULTIVATE COMMON INTERESTS. After the passion settles down, it’s common to realize that you have few interests in common. But don’t minimize the importance of activities you can do together that you both enjoy. If common interests are not present, happy couples develop them. At the same time, be sure to cultivate interests of your own; this will make you more interesting to your mate and prevent you from appearing too dependent.

3. WALK HAND IN HAND OR SIDE BY SIDE. Do things together. Rather than one partner lagging or dragging behind the other, happy couples walk comfortably hand in hand or side by side. They know it’s more important to be with their spouse than to see the sights along the way.

4. MAKE TRUST AND FORGIVENESS YOUR DEFAULT MODE. If and when they have a disagreement or argument, and if they can’t resolve it, happy couples default to trusting and forgiving rather than distrusting and begrudging.

5. FOCUS MORE ON WHAT YOUR SPOUSE DOES RIGHT THAN WHAT HE OR SHE DOES WRONG. If you look for things your partner does wrong, you can always find something. If you look for what he or she does right, you can always find something, too. It all depends on what you want to look for. Happy couples accentuate the positive.

6. HUG EACH OTHER AS SOON AS YOU SEE EACH OTHER AFTER WORK. Our skin has a memory of “good touch” (loved), “bad touch” (abused) and “no touch” (neglected). Couples who say hello with a hug keep their skin bathed in the “good touch,” which can inoculate your spirit against anonymity in the world.

7. SAY "I LOVE YOU" AND "HAVE A GOOD DAY" EVERY MORNING. This is a great way to buy some patience and tolerance as each partner sets out each day to battle traffic jams, long lines and other annoyances.

8. SAY "GOOD NIGHT" EVERY NIGHT, REGARDLESS OF HOW YOU FEEL. This tells your partner that, regardless of how upset you are with him or her, you still want to be in the relationship. It says that what you and your partner have is bigger than any single upsetting incident.

9. DO A "WEATHER" CHECK DURING THE DAY. Call your spouse at home or at work to see how his or her day is going. This is a great way to adjust expectations so that you’re more in sync when you connect after work. For instance, if your partner is having an awful day, it might be unreasonable to expect him or her to be enthusiastic about something good that happened to you.

10. BE PROUD TO BE SEEN WITH YOUR SPOUSE. Happy couples are pleased to be seen together and are often in some kind of affectionate contact — hand on hand or hand on shoulder or knee or back of the neck. They are not showing off but rather just saying that they belong to each other.

6 years

6 years ago today at 10:45 am, I put my life into my surgeon's hands, kissed my husband and daughter goodbye, hugged each of my family members as they prayed over me outside the operating room door.

July 2, 2010 I was walking thru the mall with my daughter when suddenly I got a weird pain like feeling on the right side of my chest, I kinda got a scare bc it hit me suddenly, so I did try to walk the pain off, the more I walked the worst it was, I went into the pharmacy to see if he had any suggestions, he took one look at me and made me sit down because I looked very miserable and clammy he said , he suggested he wanted to get me to the ER and when I told him what I felt like he called my hubby for me and he came to get me and took me right to the ER, they took one look at me and whisked me away to have a Dr check me right away... it was a very scary night for me, the doctor came in and asked some questions, did some test and then he diagnosed me with Leukaemia they admitted me as well....I lost my mind, I called my parents, they were heartbroken, friends and family far and near sent their thoughts.. all the while thinking I had this disease that no one wants to hear about.
4 days in, I asked for a second opinion...

thankfully the Dr was able to do some test and told me that I had a growth on my chest cavity, blocking my breathing tube to my heart... it sounded very scary but it was no Leukaemia...
She said she would like to do a biopsy and she didn't feel comfortable in putting me under, I was to stay awake.
The morning of the biopsy, I was freaking out because I knew this was going to be painful... went to the OR and it was bustling with many doctors and nurses, they had me lay on my belly, strapped to a bed bc if I moved it could puncture my lung, I laid there so still yet in so much pain, I tried to take my mind off what was going on..yet to hear the doctors around me talking about it, listening to them prepare the needle to freeze me, the needle nearly drove me crazy it was massive and I could hear and see everything..
then they finally had the needle in and was talking amongst themselves and how they cannot drain it because it's in a weird spot, so they had two needles going by now and they were finally able to drain some of it off, the smell and the odour were gross, I didn't like being alone during this but off course no one could come in there with me.. they did drain a big bottle off and told me I would have no more pain...
well before the night was over my pain was back...
they felt at a lost at that point, they did bring a surgeon in and she was scared to do the surgery bc it was very risky... but without it, I would be in constant pain.
I told them I wanted to go ahead with it..they sent me home bc I would have a couple week to wait for surgery. I was back and forth to the hospital for pain control, missing a lot of time from work, even one time I had to take an ambulance from work, I couldn't breathe

October 6 was the day I was to go for my surgery, I quit my job on October 4th because I never knew what the outcome was going to be...
My family was all here, they couldn't say for sure that I would pull thru this because it was so risky and so close to my heart
The surgery lasted for 12 hours, it was a very long time for my family who were waiting and not sure how it was going to work or if I would be with them again...8 pm that night they brought me out of surgery, I was on a breathing tube bc my lung had to be taken out and this growth cut off it, she got my lungs working again..
6 days later I was walking out of the hospital with a lot of drainage tubes, stitches etc, but to this day I have no had a problem with it, the doctor was so amazing, she even now asks how I am doing, I am so thankful that this part of my life is done...

From that day, I realised it helps to have a second opinion because, at first glance, they can be wrong and thankfully he was.  after my check up last year, she said she didn't need to see me again because it was all gone and she was 100% sure it wouldn't come back.

I'm thankful, so thankful

NKJV Study Bible- Review

Not quite a study Bible, but more than a devotional Bible, this version belongs in the church library and on the layman’s desk.

Though the provided word studies are too brief, the accompanying indexes do give significant value to the work.

a. English Word Index
b. Scripture Passage Index
c. Strong Number Index for both Hebrew and Greek Words
d. Concordance (typical to that found in most study Bibles)

Studying my Bible is something that I do daily so I am always looking for one that can enhance my understanding of what I am reading and I think this one does a good job because it includes seventeen hundred easy to understand word studies.

Book Review- Riley Unlikely

This book literally had me laughing and crying. Love it!

First of all, this book is AMAZING! I started this book while sitting in airports (and on airplanes) on my way home from World Youth Day. To give you a hint about how much I loved this book, let me tell you something. I was literally in tears at the Chicago airport while reading this, twice. I guess that could be my first piece of advice concerning this book: Be prepared for tears!

Riley is a young woman who has refused to give up. when life got tough, and it did get tough for her, she trusted that God would see her through and that He had a plan for her. She has put her faith before everything and given so much of herself to the people of Kenya.

This young woman is making a difference in the world, one child at a time. I truly admire her and her dedication and her faith. She has not let anything stand in her way.

You need to get this book and read it, it will change your life.
I review for BookLook Bloggers

Married and Lonely

Have you ever felt like your spouse has checked out emotionally, it feels like there are a million miles between you ? There are many reasons why we feel this way

1) Stress- men especially do not like to discuss why they are stressed, almost like it makes them look weak which is not the cue at all.

2) Lack of effort: Sometimes the problem is a little less obvious than unforgiveness or harsh treatment. It is easy, especially for men, to just assume that the relationship is going along just fine, and so we don't put in as much effort as we once did. We start to take our spouse for granted, leading them to think that they are not important in our lives. When the marriage slips from being one of the top priorities in the heart of one or both spouses, the other person feels abandoned. This causes them to feel unwanted and then to withdraw into their own world.

3) lack of time- we have such busy schedules - we do not have the time to plan a date night- no matter what you need to make time for each other, not just with sex, but have regular date nights, watch a movie, go for a drive and talk, tell him how you are feeling. Make time for each other

4) If you two have been arguing a lot your spouse may be walking on egg shells these days. Maintaining distance may be their attempt to avoid getting into another argument.

5) Overbearing The two of you are always together. Instead of having time separately and to enjoy your friends everything you do is with your spouse. There's a possibility that your spouse wants a little bit of space and hasn't figured out how to tell you.

6)  Tired- My husband has had an incredibly busy week, he has done gardening here and at the church, he has moved our new pastor in, he has painted etc, he is exhausted... let him rest, don't bug him, he needs the down time

VeggieTales Every Day with God devotional! ~ Review

I am 34 years old but when I hear or see it anything veggie tales it grabs my attention, I love the story it brings, my daughter who is 13 is the same way and sometimes her and I will break out in singing the veggie tale song
What a great devotional for young girls (there is also a boys version out there) to read. Each day gives you a bible verse, a devotion, thought of the day and prayer. It is simple enough to keep young minds engaged while still providing a heart of God's Word. The verses are all from different versions of the bible, so I would highly recommend having the one your family uses nearby as a reference. The devotions go by numbers, not by date, so you can start this with your young lady at any time of the year.
You could perhaps do the tiny devotions before your child leaves for school or before bed, they are quick little devotions that every child would love

Overall I thought this was a sweet and engaging devotional for young readers. I wish it had been around when my daughter was young as I know we would have had so much fun reading it together everyday!

*****I would love to give one away to one of you, leave a comment below with your fav veggie tales character and I will pick a winner on friday *****
