Great Activities Everyone Should Do With Their Kids

Building a bond

For the best family experience, it’s best to build as strong a bond as possible with your kids while they’re growing up. Some parents may find this difficult due to lack of experience, or not having so much time or money to take them anywhere, but there are ways around that! It’s important to teach your kids about the world and to be there for them while they learn it. There’s no fixed age at which you should be bonding with them, and there’s plenty of activities to do with them at any age, so look out for things you think everyone can enjoy, and get bonding!

Visit the Zoo

First of all, the zoo is a great place to go at any age, which makes it an excellent family activity. Everyone is interested in seeing things that you can’t see on a daily basis, especially when it comes to animals, and it’s pretty rare for an individual to not like animals. Zoos have something for everyone and let you have the options for tours or free viewing, so you can really just go off as a family and spend the day together. A lot of zoos offer activities for people to take part in, like feeding or petting the animals; not all of them of course, but some, like penguins and monkeys.

Keep in mind, not all zoos are the same so, you might have a different experience depending on which you go to. It’s best to do your research and make sure you go to the one with the most appealing features for all of the family. For example; imagine one of your children absolutely love polar bears, well not all zoos have a polar bear enclosure so pay attention to where you go!

Take them to theme parks

Theme parks can be a great day out if you’re a thrill seeker, and there are all sorts of parks that offer different experiences for all ages. Whether your kids are on the younger side or starting to get into their teen years, there is definitely a place you can take them. It all depends on their interests and whether they like smooth rides or adrenaline rush-inducing rides. They’re not just for kids either, most rides are made for adults to enjoy too, so if you like roller coasters, it can really be a good enjoyable day for everyone involved.

Try an aquarium

Just like zoos, aquariums are a fun place to go for anyone at any age, and an interesting alternative to the usual activities people do. Aquariums really give you a chance to see things you would never see for yourself, and possibly things you wouldn’t really want to see for yourself. Take sharks, for example, terrifying! However, seeing them in an aquarium is a completely different experience, as you see them as they are, rather than sort of an angry predator that wants to harm you. Start looking into aquariums and find out which will have the best experiences for you. If you really have no idea where you should be looking, you could try with SeaQuest aquariums to give you an idea of what you might find on your day out. Most of the time, sea life isn’t really experienced by anyone, especially when it comes to the bigger and more exotic creatures, so you could be missing out on a lot if you decide against it!

Cinemas are easy

Family days out don’t always require a lot of thought and can be more of just a simple treat for everyone. Cinemas are a safe bet for a family experience, as there’s more than likely going to be an appropriate film for everyone when you get there, and if not you can easily look and book online. Pretty much every town has a local cinema, and you can’t really go wrong if you make sure beforehand that you’re going to get a ticket, and there’s a movie that everyone is interested in watching.

Museums can be for everyone

Yet another experience for all types of people, however, age may affect this trip. While museums might not be something for kids of a very young age to be, when it comes to different interests, there really is something for anyone. Museums are a great place for people to learn with an interesting twist, as they offer more than just words to learn from, and rather a detailed and physical representation of what you’re learning about. Museums are on the more practical side of the educational scale, which can really change what would be a somewhat boring learning experience, into something that people look forward to and enjoy. No museum is the same, and there are museums out there for almost anything you can imagine, the only trick is getting to them! Obviously, not all museums are going to be nearby, some may be very far away, but that really just adds to the experience!

Road trips are fun

A road trip is an excellent opportunity to bond with your family, as you’re essentially boxed in with everyone and nothing else to focus on. One of the best parts about a road trip is, you usually only end up in them on the way to another bonding experience, so it’s the best time to start getting warmed up with everyone, and try to enjoy it as best you can! While there are not so many physical activities involved, there’s so much room for conversation and silly games for people to just let loose and enjoy. There’s no better time for talking amongst yourselves and really just getting to understand everyone better; you’re family after all, so there’s nothing to be afraid of when talking about yourself!

There’s no better time to bring yourself closer to your children than all the time, so it’s worth keeping a lookout for things to do with them at all times; you never know how things will turn out, it could be a hectic adventure, or maybe just a great day of fun. Bonding with your kids is what really helps them to learn your values and how to act when they get older, it’s all about setting an example and letting them know that life can be a lot of fun.

Achieve the ultimate in modern roof design

We all spend a lot of time making sure that our homes are safe and warm, that they are clean and damp proof, that we can live in peace and happiness. In fact, we can recognize all sorts of dangers in our houses and deal with them easily.

And yet, the roof so often gets ignored. Why is that?

Part of this is because we don’t spend a lot of time looking at the roof, so it remains taken for granted that it is doing alright. But if you are ignoring your roof, you are missing out on a big opportunity. Roofing technology has changed rapidly in the last few years and now is the time to give your roof the attention it needs and give it the ultimate modern roof design.
Consider getting professional help in if you need (or want) any major work doing or if the job at hand seems complex such as finding the most reliable local metal roof company that can fulfill your vision and ensure your roof is safe and secure.

Use Modern Materials

Most roofs are finished using tile or wood shingles that are simply slotted into place in order to allow water to roll off and into the gutters. This method has been used for thousands of years and to be honest, it is still pretty great technology. But how can you make it better?

With new methods, tile shingles can now be made much stronger and more resistant to cracks and scrapes. This means that when a storm comes around, these shingles are more likely to stay put and undamaged. Over time, this type of roof will last much longer, making it a good investment for the future. Talk to Fort Collins Roofing about repairing your roof after a hail storm to see what your other options are.

Optimize Your Insulation

You might think of your roof as just a skin for your home, but actually, it is also a good place to put insulation to keep the heat in your house. By adding insulation here, you will see a significant drop in your bills, especially over the winter months. There’s no doubt that roof insulation is a good investment to make.

To see whether your roof is well insulated, one of the most foolproof methods is to go out after a snowfall that has stuck on the road and see whether your house has a white cap of snow. If you do have snow, that means that there is very little heat escaping your home. If the snow has melted, you should look into getting insulation soon.

Add Solar Panels

It’s easy to forget about the roof, but you actually have a few square meters you can make real use of up there. Adding solar panels is a great idea because they will allow you to produce your own energy and lower your electricity bills.

A north facing roof is best for solar panels as they will get the most light throughout the day. It is, however, a myth that solar panels are ineffective in cold, cloudy climates. Sure, a bright sunshine will be great for your panels, but what they really need is UV light, and that comes straight through the clouds no problem.

Coping Financially After The Death Of A Loved One

Losing a loved one isn’t the nicest thing in the world to have to think about,

but it’s important to consider things like how we’ll cope in different aspects

of our lives if something should happen to them. If your partner is the
breadwinner of the family, losing them could be made even harder with the
financial burdens you’ll have to cope with in their absence.
Even if they are not the breadwinner, losing their income could still mean making a
huge change to your lifestyle.

Here, we’re going to discuss coping financially after the death of a loved one:

Speaking To Close Friends And Family Members
At a time like this, it’s so important to get support from your close friends and family members.

Having somebody to talk to and share your problems with can be a huge help,
even if the problems remain. If you’re struggling with finances, you can also
explain your situation to mortgage lenders, utility suppliers, and credit card
providers and work something out. It’s so easy to forget to inform them as you will
have lots of other things on your mind, but they will help you to work out a plan and
likely be sympathetic to your situation.

Try your best not to panic when you get bills your other half used to deal with.
Take the time to readjust your budget and spending. It can be tough to deal with the
total change of lifestyle, so be kind to yourself.

If you do begin to feel overwhelmed, don’t be afraid to get help, even if you need to
get a note from your doctor to have time off work or see a therapist to get some things
off your chest.

Being Prepared For The Unexpected
Having a cash cushion in place for unexpected circumstances can make this hard time
easier in a way. Hopefully, your loved one will have had a suitable life insurance policy
in place before they died, which you could use to pay off any debts.

Consulting a Lawyer
It can be a good idea to consult a lawyer, even if you don’t know for sure whether
you’ll hire one or not. Many people worry about the cost after losing their other half.
However, a probate attorney who is experienced could help you to save thousands
when dealing with your loved one’s estate.

You should try to take a list of things to discuss with you, so that you can make the
most of your consultation. You will want to make sure you understand the liability issues, and
ensure that you’re not too emotionally drained to do things by yourself. If you believe that you
can’t handle it alone, there’s no shame in getting help at all. Go for a company that
specialize in estate planning and similar things, rather than run of the mill real estate lawyers,

divorce lawyers, and other kinds of lawyers who won’t necessarily have the experience needed.

Hard to explain? No! Making a explainer video

Image result for business video camera

Are you struggling to find new and exciting ways to promote your business? While most people go for the typical marketing methods, the explainer video is one that appears to be a bit of a gamble in some circles. But what is a business explainer video? Put simply, it's a video that explains your product or service in a minute or two. It's a very concise approach to getting new customers on board and can be a refreshing way to alert people to your business. But do it wrong and it can be a disaster, so how do you get it right?

Get The Script Right
For any video, it's always about a great structure. And in the case of an explainer video, you need to get the script perfect first. Sometimes it's best to choose someone who can explain the ideas of your company or product in a way other people can understand, so it is advisable to get someone who has nothing to do with the company to create this. By having someone unrelated to the company do this, it's going to give you a fresh and exciting angle, not just a typical video based in your office, that is thoroughly boring, which nobody wants to watch. You should pinpoint exactly what you want to detail in your explainer video, such as the elevator pitch, the benefits of the product or service, as well as addressing it to the correct target audience.

Get The Production Values Perfect
You could have a fantastic script, but if the video is made on a home camcorder or a poor quality smartphone, you're going to have difficulty in people taking you seriously. It's always advisable to get the professionals in because they will know exactly what will work and what won't. You can hire a professional camera crew, or if you know the right people and you trust their judgement, these people may be cheaper. But when it comes to the filming itself, as well as the post-production, you cannot skimp on poor production values. You are competing with other businesses, big names and small names, and if you've got competitors with better production values than you, even though they sell fewer products, you are going to have a difficult time keeping up with them.

Market Your Video!
The greatest explainer video in the world can get lost by the wayside if it's not marketed properly, and yes, although this is a key part of your marketing process, it's vital for you to push this as far as you can. Make sure you have a reputable video host, have a marketing plan in place, but also make sure the video is integrated into your website. A lot of companies put the video front and center on their webpage, and so you should too!

The best explainer videos move seamlessly with the brand, and although you aren’t looking at millions of hits on YouTube, it's still important to make sure you have a video that's short, sharp, effective, and gets everything across to encourage more sales.

Under the Gift Wrap

I love pretty wrappings.  There's something about making a present look beautiful and even sometimes fun too that makes the receiver excited about opening it.  Of course it always boils down to what's inside that counts, but getting to that point of finding out what's inside sure is fun!

I love watching kids open their presents at Christmas.  Sometimes they open them slowly and other times they dive right in and rip off the wrapping so quickly you almost miss watching them open the gift.

Watching our children's faces and their reactions is one of those things we love as parents.  Later on we usually know what gifts they like the best by how much they get it out play with it or use it.

I'm sure God is the same way when He looks down at us. He's given so much for us through the gift of His Son, Jesus.  He knows when we appreciate His gifts too.  He sees our thankful hearts or not so thankful hearts.  He knows when we get out His Word and find all those things He's left for us or if we've left them under the tree.

John 3:16 tells us that God loved us so much that He gave us His Son. Though His Son, Jesus Christ, we can have so much.

Here are some things that we find under the tree just waiting for us to unwrap.

Unwrap the Gift of His Love.

Have you pulled off the wrapping of the love of Christ and accepted Him as your Savior?  If you haven't, that's the first step in unwrapping what God has given us.

I'm so grateful that Christ loved us so much that He wants to take us to Heaven to be with Him, but I love the fact that His love sustains us here on earth.  Every day I wake up I find the love of Christ.

The love of Christ is one of those gifts that we share with others too. Talk about the gift that keeps on giving!

And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.  Ephesians 3:19

Nothing can take that gift of love away from us either.

Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.  Romans 8:39

Unwrap the Gift of Grace.

Another thing we can unwrap is the gift of grace.  Through Christ we have access to that wonderful grace that's given to us.  Not a gift we deserve but because of Christ we can have it.

Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.  Romans 5:1,2

But not as the offence, so also is the free gift. For if through the offence of one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many.  Romans 5:15
That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.  Ephesians 2:7

Unwrap the Gift of the Resurrection.
This is one of those gifts that it's worth getting excited about.  Without the resurrection of Christ, we have nothing.

And if Christ be not raised, your faith is vain; ye are yet in your sins.  1 Corinthians 15:17

When we unwrap this and dwell on it awhile and really think about how much it does for us as Christians, it makes you want to shout, jump up and down, or maybe even do a cartwheel or two!

O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.  1 Corinthians 15:56,57
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.  1 Peter 1:3
Unwrap the Gift of Inheritance.
Because of Christ, we can become heirs of God.  What a gift!  To know that we are the children of God.

That passage in 1 Peter 1 goes on to say,

To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you.  1 Peter 1:4
The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:

And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.  Romans 8:16-17

Unwrap the Gift of His Word.
When we rip off the wrapping paper and find the Word, it's one of those gifts that never runs out, never wears out, and never gets old.  Don't you love that?

Every day we can find new things in it just for us to give us strength, sharpen us, build us up, and even rebuke us, but it's something that the Lord knew we needed.

I hope the Lord doesn't find me throwing His gift of the Word down or never getting it out to use.  It's a precious gift to us.

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.  Colossians 3:16
There's just so much that we are given through the gift of Christ.  The ones I listed are just some of the things we gain with a life in Christ.  It's like there's this big tree with the bottom piled high with gifts and all the branches bulging with gifts nestled in just for us.

We have wonderful and precious promises, strength, the Holy Spirit, peace, joy, and on and on just because of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Because of Christ our lives can become so full, so rich, so meaningful.

...I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.  John 10:10

Most of us don't leave our gifts unwrapped under the tree.  We want to see what's inside.

Maybe we should spend more time in the Word and in prayer finding those things that the Lord would have for us.  Perhaps we should spend more time saying, "thank you" for our gifts and appreciate them more

I know I need to work on this.  I don't want to miss out on anything or forget to say "thank you".

So, have you unwrapped all of your presents?

Is it time for a health overhaul?

Around the end of December to the start of January, it’s common for people to start planning a bit of a health kick. But you shouldn’t have to wait until the New Year to revamp your approach to health; you can start at any time, and no time is better than the present. While it is incredibly important to make sure your mental health is in good condition, it is also crucial to keep your body fit and healthy. Not only will it increase your life expectancy and give you more energy for day to day living; it can also have a huge impact on your overall mood, helping your body to regulate and release endorphins, serotonin, and dopamine into your bloodstream. All of which contribute to keeping your state of mind balanced and healthy. Below are four key points to address to help you overhaul your health to reveal a new kind of you.
Change your mindset; change your lifestyle
The most important part of any health overhaul is also the most difficult: Changing your bad habits. How long you’ve been in your current routine will determine how easily you break it, but there is always hope. There are two approaches you can take. You could opt for the drastic change; overhaul everything, cutting out anything that could be remotely classed as unhealthy and only partaking in that which is fundamentally good for your body. Or you could start by introducing small changes and building upon your success over time. Only you will know which will suit you best but bear in mind that the first option will require a huge amount of self-discipline and planning to pull off. Many will choose the second option; partly because it sounds like less effort, but mainly because it sounds more sustainable. That is the key to making positive changes to your lifestyle. They must be sustainable. By making small changes over a period of time, you lessen the perceived sacrifice, meaning that before you know it, you’ll be living your life in a way you wouldn’t have thought possible only a few months ago. Anything worth doing will take time to do properly, there are no quick fixes when it comes to your health and well-being.
The first step to success is to change your mindset. Instead of seeing your meals as the activity, think of them as a means to an end. No one looks forward to filling up their car with fuel, but you might look forward to a long drive with friends. You may not enjoy exercising because you find it difficult and unrewarding. Instead, look at exercise as a skill or talent which must be practised in order to gain expertise. If you had never played an instrument before, you would not enjoy playing the guitar as much as someone who had been learning for six months. As you build upon your small successes and make progress, you will find you enjoy yourself more, and begin to look forward to your next workout. As you change your mindset and the way you choose to interact with the various aspects of your new life, you will begin to notice changes in your overall demeanour and lifestyle; you may choose to take the stairs instead of waiting for the elevator to take you up a single flight of stairs. Subtle changes can bring about big results, so do not underestimate the power of how you choose to engage with your new lifestyle.

Fuel your body
It is very easy to see food as a luxury or use it as a reward mechanism. But by changing your relationship with food, you can rebalance the power, allowing you to use food without letting it consume your life. Just as a car cannot function without fuel, your body cannot function without food. You must ensure that you are giving your body the proper nutrition for it to flourish. There is a huge amount of information about diets available on the internet, some good and some bad. Many people will tell you to completely cut out certain food groups in order to maintain a healthy diet. Not only can this be incredibly damaging to your body, but it can make that diet unsustainable in the long run. Stick with the basics, and you can’t go wrong. Make sure that the majority of your meals have each of the five food groups (meat, dairy or dairy substitute, fruit, vegetables, and grain or cereal) represented. If you are vegetarian or vegan, this can prove tricky as the five groups can quickly turn to four or five. Stick to the recommended daily calorie intake and ensure that your diet is around 60% carbohydrates (avoid simple carbs or excess sugar as much as possible), 20% protein, and 20% fats. Try to avoid large quantities of saturated fat, but also steer clear of reduced fat alternatives; they are typically pumped full of sugar and are more unhealthy than the full-fat product they replace. Also, make sure that your diet has a strong source of vitamins and minerals as these keep your body working in top condition. Depending on where you live, it might be worth using a vitamin D supplement, as this is largely created by your body from sunlight and helps to regulate mood.

Exercise to keep your body and mind strong
Just like with diets, there are thousands of workout plans available on the internet, and most of them work just fine. The most important part of any workout routine is consistency. So pick something you know you will enjoy and can keep working at. The best routine in the world won’t do you any good if you don’t stick to it. You might enjoy circuit training, or powerlifting, or even bodybuilding style training. Whatever keeps you interested in fitness is the best way to exercise.

Know when to ask for help
With all the information available it’s never been so easy to help yourself. But sometimes the task ahead is something that just isn’t manageable on your own. Whether it be because you’ve sustained an injury and need a personal trainer or physiotherapist to help ease you back into exercise safely; or you’ve struggled with your diet for so long that it seems like lap band surgery is the only option for you.  Either way, never be afraid to ask for professional help. You are only human, and you can’t be expected to know everything. That’s what experts are for.

Taking the first step, and making the decision to be healthier is the most important decision you can make. Once you put your mind and determination into reaching your ultimate goal, the other steps will fall into place. Just keep going and remember sustainability is key to changing your lifestyle.
