Have You Got The Pain Bug?

You don’t have to be old and grey to catch the pain bug. Trust us, the pain bug can come at any point in your life. All it takes is one small accident, or a few years sat behind a desk, or perhaps a love for sports that are making your muscles and joints ache. The one issue we have as humans is thinking that nothing can happen to our bodies until we’re old and grey. We just put up with the pain that we’re having now because we think that it’s the norm, but let us tell you it isn’t. We as younger adults, in the grand scheme of life, should be thinking about all of the ways that we can battle pain and what it might be a sign of. The odd week of having a bit of back and neck ache would not indicate a problem that needs action. But if you’re someone who is suffering from severe pain or pain that’s fluctuating in severity but is still there, then you need to do something about it. We’re going to talk about the pain bug, what it is, and how you can do something about it.

What Is The Pain Bug?

The pain bug is when part of your body starts to feel pain, and then before you know it you have multiple locations around your body that are causing you problems. You have to look at your lifestyle and the way that you’re living it. For example, if you’re very active you might be misled to believe that your body will be free of any aches and pains. Wrong. In fact, runners, in particular, are subject to all sorts of pain in the ankles, knees, and hips, but keep on running to try and keep themselves fit. People as early as their 20s can have painful areas all over their body, and it’s important to recognize what’s bad and what’s natural. For example, if you have chronic neck pain which minimizes your range of movement, a trip to the doctor is needed. However, if you have neck and back pain between the shoulder blades, you should think about your posture and whether that might be influencing it.

What Can We Do About It?

Once you have established the problem, it’s time to do something about it. Whilst we’re still young and active and our bodies are relatively reactive and strong, there’s plenty that we can do about it. One diagnosis many people get is osteoarthritis. Again, don’t think that because it’s arthritis that you won’t get it until you’re older. Osteoarthritis is very painful and can radiate around many parts of the body. However, non-invasive treatments can be used to improve the condition, rather than just focusing on reducing the pain. You should also consider physio and muscle and bone-strengthening activities such as yoga.

Keeping Our Bodies Young

Often all that’s needed to treat aches and pains that are not caused by any clinical condition is to keep your body young. Stretch morning and night, eat well, correct your posture, drink lots of water and get your rest. Simple lifestyle changes can make all the difference to how your body feels.

5 Exterior Home Maintenance Chores For Your To-Do List

Keeping your home in tip-top shape is both a creative project and an important way to protect your investment. Exterior home maintenance chores aren’t always fun, but once they are complete, you’ll be glad of the results! To get you off to a sparkling start, here come five important chores for your checklist.

1 . Effective drainage

Your gutters play a key part in the effectiveness of your roof and its ability to protect your home. Without a properly functioning gutter, rainwater cannot be sufficiently drained away, which can cause damp and moisture issues throughout your house. Ensure that you clean your gutter regularly to remove debris and leaves. Doing so will make sure that there are no blockages that can overspill into your walls.

2. Roof wear and tear

When you need to get a roof replacement it can be a big job, but that might not be necessary unless it’s in a bad way. In a lot of cases, you can simply get it cleaned and repaired. First off, look for any missing shingles and get these replaced right away. You should also replace any shingles that are worn or damaged, as these faults will only worsen over time. Next up, replace the roof sealant if you need to, you’ll be able to tell where the sealant needs replacing with a good inspection of your roof. Lastly, be sure to trim any tree branches that hang over your roof. Falling leaves can easily clog the guttering, so trimming back the trees makes your roof maintenance that little bit easier. Be sure to  hire a roofing company near you to repair damages to your roof.

3. Windows and doors

Inspect the frames and timber regularly to look for any cracks. When moisture gets into your timber, it can cause rotting and further damage. If you have any drafts, use caulk to seal the gaps. When heat and energy escapes from your home, you’ll find that your bills will increase. If caulk isn’t effective, it may be time to invest in some upgrades. Triple glazed windows are a sound investment to protect your home and see a decrease in your bills.

Beyond this, if you feel that you often suffer from drafts throughout your home, it may be worth investing in new external and internal doors to ensure that as much heat as possible is retained within your home. If you do decide to replace your doors, why not go for steel frames? If you do so, you'll not only have aesthetically pleasing new doors that are sleek and modern, but they'll also be thermally broken, meaning that they will not conduct heat, keeping your home nice and toasty throughout the winter months. You can Learn More about the benefits of steel doors and windows for your property by researching providers like Black Badge.

4. Fences and pathways

Perform regular maintenance work on your fences by checking for loose nails, breakage, and rot. You can usually replace one fence panel or two without needing to get a whole new fence. Be sure to keep vines and bushes clear of your fence, which can prevent an excess of moisture and damage from insects. To protect the wood, apply a fence stain, or paint every couple of months. For your pathways, you can clean these with a pressure washer to keep everything nice and clean.

5. Garage declutter

One of the jobs that we put off the most is decluttering the garage. You’ve likely got some items in storage that you no longer want or need. Box these up and take them to a thrift store or sell them online if possible. A cluttered home creates a feeling of lethargy and tension. When you free up some space and get things clean and organized, you’ll instantly have created a more homely space.

Keeping on top of your home maintenance chores will ensure that your home looks and feels great all year through.

Take A Step Back And Relax With These Awesome Activities

Work. Social life. Motherhood. Love. Housework. Over and over again. It’s life; throw in a few vacation days, and some overtime and you are spending your time on a perpetual cycle of friendships, working days and living your life to a schedule that meets what the world needs from you. We are living in a constant state of being busy. There is always something to do, somewhere to be, and when we live like that, the days seem to blur into each other, making it hard to relax. The pressure to conform to what society wants is genuine, and we put a lot of that on our own shoulders, ensuring that we spend much of our time exhausted and tense.

You need to relax. It’s that simple: it’s what you need, it’s what will make you feel good and it’s how you can step away from all of those pressures and take a moment for yourself just to be. Life is not supposed to be filled with constant anxiety and worry. It’s supposed to be filled with chances to have fun and enjoy yourself. Once you start learning to relax, you will find that life feels that bit easier for you. With that in mind, let’s check out some awesome activities that you could be doing right now to relax.

Gentle stretches will help you here, and it will feel good in the long-run. You could even combine these exercises with a product from somewhere like  mmjexpress for an even more relaxing experience that, hopefully, banish any stress and tension from your body and mind so that you are able to focus your energy on what matters each day.
  4. Book yourself in for a massage. You don’t need a full body massage to feel really relaxed; an Indian head massage is often enough to stay as comfortable as possible. You want to concentrate on the areas of your body that are feeling tense and sore.

4 Things To Expect As Your Parents Age

There will always be a point in your life when you notice your parent’s age far more than you used to. The point this occurs will depend on when your parents had you. For some people, it will occur far later than others because their parents had children earlier in life. For others, this point will occur much sooner. So, what changes should you expect once you reach this point?

More Injuries

You might find that your parents do develop more injuries once they reach a certain age. Why is this? Well, there are a few reasons including the fact that as we age our bodies become far more susceptible to damage. It can also take longer for our bodies to heal as well. So, it’s important to ensure that you are considering this carefully. It may be worth thinking about making changes to your parent’s home to ensure that injuries are going to be less likely.

Trouble With Mobility

This does connect with another point that you may need to be prepared for. It’s possible that as parents age they do struggle with levels of mobility and this can impact their independence. They might need more support from you, even with some of the most basic tasks such as the weekly shop. You should be working to ensure that you are providing the support that your parents need. You might also want to consider looking into Stair lift installation costs for their home. Or help them move to a ground floor property.

Hearing Changes

It is possible that you notice changes to your parent’s hearing too and this is another common issue. Although hearing trouble is associated with age, it’s worth noting that it can occur at any point in life. Hearing problems are typically harmless but they can have an impact on an individual's mental health. For this reason, it is worth ensuring that your parents do get their hearing tested. You need to make sure they are getting treatment if it is needed. This will make it far less likely that their hearing deteriorates further over a short period.

Dementia

Finally, you do need to be prepared for the possibility that your parent develops dementia. Dementia becomes far more common as you age. Once you reach eighty, you are more likely to have signs of dementia than not. One of the most common early signs of dementia is people simply phasing out. You could be having a conversation with them and they will drift off, staring out into nothing. They will snap back after a couple of minutes but will have no recollection of what you just said. It can be quite disconcerting to see it happen and it is worth helping them get the medical support that they need.

We hope this helps you understand some of the changes that you should expect as your parent's age becomes more relevant. It’s important that you don’t avoid these issues. Recognizing them earlier can help you put the right strategies in place.
