Wednesdays for Women

Wednesdays are for Women ( to encourage and uplift each other)

Do you ever find yourself overwhelmed by negative feelings.  They may be there because of a conflict in your marriage, difficult work situations, problems with your children, financial difficulties or just a feeling of hopelessness because life seems so unfair.

Is there anything that can be done about these negative feelings?  Can we control our feelings?  Can we change them?  If you were asked to make yourself feel happy you would probably think of a wonderful experience you have had like winning a prize or experiencing a special celebration.  On the other hand if  you were asked to feel sad you would think of a very devastating or sad experience. This tells us that our feelings are usually connected to our thoughts.  Often we cannot control the circumstances that lead to our thoughts but we can choose how we want to think about them and that in turn affects our feelings.

Paul found himself in a difficult situation one day.  He had been so faithful in serving the Lord.  He had given his life to share the Good News of the gospel.  His heart was passionate to see people come to a faith in his risen Lord.  But here he was, in prison,  Probably with his feet in stocks.  Paul could have said, “It’s not fair”  We might say, he had reason to complain. He could have blamed God for his difficult situation.   He could have been overcome by negative thoughts and feelings because of his circumstances but we see Paul making a choice.  He chose to focus on the good things, the blessings in his life.  We read about this choice in the book of Philippians.

Even though he was in prison he made a choice to think about things that are honorable, right, pure, lovely, of good repute, what is excellent, and worthy of praise (Phil. 4. 8-9) and encourages his readers to do the same.

We too have a choice like Paul did.  Difficult circumstances can so easily cause us to focus on negative thoughts which create   negative  feelings and also actions.  This sets in motion a negative cycle that only leads to unhappiness, darkness and despair.  In the same way, as we choose to focus on the blessings and the resources we have in the Lord, as Paul did, feelings of peace and rejoicing in the the Lord will follow.

Book review

Motherhood is full of so many things
Am i gonna be a good mother
Is my child eating enough
Is my child sleeping good enough
Is my child....

This book will answer your questions and make you feel like you can do this, you can be the mom you want to be.
This book reaches your heart and your mind, and it makes mother hood seem that much better.

SusanMerrill, the mother of five incredibly different children, has asked thatquestion countless times. And she has read countless answers specific to acertain child s temperament, age, or situation. But nothing she read offered an overall approach to parenting that would enable her to say with confidence, "I am "doing this right. She neverguessed she would find a foundational plan a reliable, universal parenting approach in the Old Testament book of Nehemiah. In "ThePassionate Mom, "Susan takes you on a journey through Nehemiah and into theheart of parenting. Her stories and confessions in every chapter reveal whatshe has learned: no mom can control her child s future, but every mom canparent well. There is a plan a roadmap for how a passionate mom can parentalmost any child, confidently.

Book review

What a phenomenal book this was. Wow, it will bring you to tears and then have you smiling as well.
This book touches your heart, brings out emotions you didn't know existed
When Nancy found out she was pregnant at the age of 40, she and Steve were both surprised and excited at the same time. However, their excitement would soon turn to concern when they were told their child would be born with trisomy 13, a genetic disorder with an extra chromosome on the thirteenth pair. Most pregnancies do not make it full term or the baby is stillborn, and those who survive live two years at the longest. Stephen Wrigley Peifer lived eight days.
Seeking to flee the pain of their loss, Steve and Nancy Peifer signed up to be dorm parents at a school in Kenya for a year. But this one-year experiment became a 13 year journey to end the tears of hunger.

Weekend Recap

Friday:
We began the next 8 weeks of treatments... i had to leave work at 2 pm, my treatment was late so it was almost 5 when i got home, oh the pain and the nausea was unreal.. i came home and slept for a while before we had to go to Summer Summit( Family Camp), we met up with friends there who came home to spend the weekend so that she could go to Summer Summit as well. Church was amazing, and HOT, i don't get why they don't have better air conditioning in there. We stayed up late that night and then i was up with a flare up til 3 am, slept til 11 on Saturday.

Saturday:
I slept til 11 because of the crazy flare up the night before, then we got ready and went to the Market- introduced her to Samosas for the first time, if you have never tried these babies, then you need to, amazing
We went shopping and got the girls matching dresses:

People thought they were Identical twins, i don't see that. They are 6 months in age difference.
We had service again that night, we had a concert at 6 pm and it was so amazing, i love some good country music.
We took the kids to McDonald's after for ice cream, came home and went to bed earlier then the night before.

Sunday: Last day of Summer Summit- i hate to have things like this end. We had service in our own Church for the morning, what a great time we had.
Andrew barbecued for us in the afternoon, the girls went and ran thru the sprinkler while the momma's looked on, i may have even took a nap :p
Sunday night service began at 6 m, we got there just after 5 to make sure we had a good seat, the place was pretty packed already but we did get a seat and were able to save a seat for Dana's husband and oldest son.
Service was amazing... i love a good old fashioned church service.

We went to pizza delight after service with 18 of our friends, it was so much fun. Dana and her husband left around midnight to drive home, i don't remember much once i got home, i was exhausted.

Today is a holiday here as well
Happy Birthday Canada
We did go and participate in some activities.

We didn't stay long though because it was so hot and crowded.. i don't like big crowds like that, so we came home and now we are just hanging out here...

Hope your week treats you well.
