Weekend recap

Friday:
Lazy day at home, we had to take Brooke to a birthday party fro 7 pm first we had to go get a present at the mall, which was crazy busy with Black Friday shoppers ( not this girl I could never venture out in that crowd) after that we took coffee and went to visit a guy from church that is recovering from a back surgery.

I stopped by the dollar store for some new wash tape, I am addicted to buying that stuff for my planner, thanks to my friends on Periscope.

Saturday:
Had a super lazy day at home.. when I woke up no one was home, that was a weird feeling.. thankfully they came back to me, hah. Brooke had to go get some materials for a project… then hubby and I went to the book and bible store to get my dad’s christmas present which I now have and I am stoked about the deal I got.. it was $80 which I was prepared to pay, then i noticed 50% off, got to the cash and got another 15% off, paid about 23.00 with taxes, I was delighted.
Made nachos and wings for dinner as per our usually family night.

Sunday:
We did the normal Sunday church, had my friend Rachel over for lunch, it was fun, she keeps me laughing.
This was the last weekend Moses is in NB, my poor mother heart( we adopted him 4 years ago), he is moving to Guatemala for 3 months for a missions trip, keep him in your thoughts and prayers for his safety and for him as her does the work of God.

Have a great week

The Christmas Story

The Birth of Jesus

In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world. (This was the first census that took place while[a] Quirinius was governor of Syria.) And everyone went to their own town to register.
So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child. While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them.
And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. 10 But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. 11 Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. 12 This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”
13 Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying,
14 “Glory to God in the highest heaven,
and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.”
15 When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let’s go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.”

16 So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger. 17 When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, 18 and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them. 19 But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart. 20 The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told.

Weekend Recap

Friday:
Brooke had no school and she was fighting a head cold so she chilled out most of the day on the couch, I cleaned and sanitized the house, we do not want any sickies around here as we are on vacation in just over three weeks.
I also made a chicken dinner which was a big hit with hubby.
One of the perks about being unemployed is a clean house and dinner ready at night, we just relaxed after that.
I am beginning to love my planner more and more, I have always been one to love to mark on paper and to keep track that way but lately on periscope I have been watching some planner scopes and I am learning so much
I took a picture of my stash tonight for an instagram thing so her it is

Multicolor pens, brush pens, page tags, sticky notes, wash tape, index cards and the planner.
Do you use a planner?

Saturday:
We relaxed out all day seeing as my house was cleaned on Friday.
We went to the mall to get Brooke a dress for the Christmas Banquet (Sunday)
Then a lady from church wanted to teach me to make pies- yes I have been with my husband for 19 years and have only ever before today made one pie and it was nasty, so today she showed me and I have to say it was a super delicious pie.

She also has the biggest christmas village that I have ever seen:

Came home watched hockey and once again just chilled.

Sunday

Today was a great day at our church we had our Christmas Banquet, I shared a lot of pictures on Facebook but I will share them here now as some of you are not on my Facebook

Weekend Recap

Friday:
It has been nice to sleep in but some days it is also nice to get up and go do something fun like take care of this cutie pie while his parents were working for the day ( and I know his mom reads here, so Hi Amy)
This kid makes me so happy, makes me feel more like an auntie as I am his honorary auntie and my sister is so far away that it is hard to be an actual auntie but only 40 days and we are together!!!! This auntie will get 10 whole days with her nieces and nephews, we also get to see my husband's brother so that will all be so nice, my auntie tank will be over flowing.

Hubby took me out to dinner after that and we did some shopping for Brooke's gifts, never found what we are looking for, so we will head out again tomorrow, I cannot walk a lot without much pain, so when I got home my feet and back were killing me- and I even had comfy shoes on, I need to get some insoles for my feet and my back well that's more talk for another day.

I also got a new baby cousin, he was born at 35 weeks but he is doing much better then dr's thought, I cannot wait to meet him on our trip home

So far he is nameless as he was born and she didn't have a name yet.

We stayed up late watching tv and being with each other.

Saturday:
We had such a lazy Saturday, it was so lazy, it wasn't a late morning of sleep, thanks to the neighbours who were replacing the roof on their house, we were woken up late but that is ok because that is something they needed to do, I then cleaned the house and got ready for the day, we went shopping around 2pm, I needed to look for a couple of things and I did get one of Brooke's gifts which is something I never ever thought she would want, but I think she will love it, let's wait and see. I can't share anything more because she reads here sometimes.

Our friend Sam came over for some nachos, wings and hockey. Bruins won, whoop

Sunday:
We did the normal Sunday church, lunch, naps and back to church again.
Here is a picture of my friend and I from today

Then I took one to send to my sister of my new outfit and hair..

Have a great week!

Review: Rest Assured: A Recovery Plan

Vicki Courtney, the talented Christian author, wife, mother, and grandmother, combines inspiration, scriptures, prayers, and spiritual words, infused with her own honest and raw insights --A powerful delivery REST ASSURED: A Recovery Plan for Weary Souls. Perfect timing, for today social media world of overindulging in technology and our constant overextended status. What a much needed book! (hits home)

From social media mania, our followers, likes, over commitments, the constant feeling of being overwhelmed, to the ongoing need for perfectionism. The exhausting pursuit of happiness. Over Expectations. Keeping up with the Joneses. Written honestly, for today’s woman; any age–young or old. Whether single, married, a mother, or a grandmother. This is not just a one-time read, to run out and fix yourself in one day. I found myself bookmarking so many pages, for continued daily devotion to empower. To be your best—and time for your weary soul. A book you will want to refer to daily- as a journal. One to use as a prayer guide on your road to being Rest Assured.

Review of Parables

Parables" is a spiritual growth book. The author explained why Jesus used parables and how the parables tie into Jesus' whole message. The focus wasn't on the parables so much as on themes in Jesus' teachings that are also illustrated in his parables.

The parables that the author included in this book are: the sower and four types of soil (Luke 8:5-8), treasure hidden in a field (Matt. 13:44), a pearl of great price (Matt. 13:45-46), laborers paid the same (Matt. 20:1-15), the good Samaritan (Luke 10:30-31), two men pray in the temple (Luke 18:9-14), the good and bad servant (Matt. 24:45-51), 10 bridesmaids (Matt. 25:1-13), the talents (Matt. 25:14-30), the shrewd but unfaithful steward (Luke 16:1-8), Lazarus and the rich man (Luke 16:19-31), and the widow and the unjust judge (Luke 17:22).

Confessional Friday

Another time to tell it all

1) I took Brooke boot shopping last night- gosh that one is hard to boot shop with, she is so particular and only wants a certain thing... finally have 4 stores she went back to the first ones she picked.

2)Wednesday night my cord broke for my mac book- so I hauled out the old windows computer.. I am a mac person so it was so hard to use the windows computer.  I had to go into town first thing Thursday morning to get a new one, $112 later.. I was gonna wait for eBay but I just couldn't, I have a lot of work to do before then

3) Tonight I am burning the midnight oil while writing this and doing some church stuff. Being an events coordinator sometimes is a lot of work.

4) Have you ever Creativlei's blog... that woman is the queen of craftiness.. she just did a Love your Lettering series and wow I learnt so much from here, you should all check her out, she could be my new BFF. I feel like I known her forever and I have just been following her on social media for a month
