My heart swells with pride and joy as I reflect on the remarkable journey of my beloved daughter, who is on the path to becoming a teacher—a calling that has been her dream for as long as I can remember. Recently, she received acceptance letters from two esteemed institutions: the University of New Brunswick (UNB) and St. Thomas University (STU). She was accepted to UNB first, which was exciting, but she had her heart set on St. Thomas University. So, we made the decision to accept the UNB offer initially, knowing that she was still waiting to hear back from STU. After a bit of a wait, she finally received her acceptance to St. Thomas about a week ago. At the time, she was house-sitting for a friend, and when she came home, we all gathered together to read the acceptance letter. I could instantly tell how much she wanted this, and seeing her face light up with joy was a moment I'll never forget.
She is no stranger to St. Thomas University, as she's currently working on her Bachelor of Arts there, majoring in French with honours in Music. So, it's a place she's already comfortable with and familiar with, which makes it even more special that she's going to continue her journey there. Come September 2025, she will officially begin studying to become a teacher, and just 11 months later, she'll be known as Madam Grothe. It's such an exciting time for her, and I am incredibly proud of everything she's accomplished and everything that lies ahead.
