WEEKEND RECAP

FRIDAY:
LAST DAY OF YEAR END
Yes, I am yelling that, it was very good to know I survived my first year end season at work, today we went out for poutine for lunch, I had a BBQ chicken poutine
I really enjoy the ladies I work with, they are so fun and easy to talk to.

We dropped Brooke of at a friends house for the night because they have a quizzing tournament on Saturday and we can't make it because we have a very busy day..

I took a little nap.. had a rough 2 nights previously, found out I have a kidney stone so some of my pain was from that.

Had to go to the church after to begin setting up for Saturday's dinner- once per year we put on a big dinner for some surrounding churches and community, this year we are doing:
Ham dinner with veggies and a Kentucky Ginger cake for dessert, I am excited to see how it turns out, I came home and cooked 2 ham's, and made 2 cakes.
Watched some more Heartland and went to bed.

SATURDAY:
The alarm went off way to early for a Saturday morning, no one should see the clock before 11 am on a Saturday ;)

I got to the church to help the decorator, she ( Pastor’s wife) did a yellow/black theme and it looked absolutely amazing as you can see in the below pic ..
we served nearly 100 people a ham dinner-
ham, mashed potatoes, corn, peas, cole slaw and rolls, it was a beautiful meal, for dessert we had Kentucky Ginger cake with whipping cream, it was delicious, for the most part things went well, i love being the hospitality coordinator and so relieved when things run smoothly.

We got home around 5 pm, i had to take a nap because I had a pounding headache, everyone worked so hard to make this a success.

SUNDAY
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY BEST FRIEND, LOVE YOU ASH

Went to morning service where I watched as a dear friend received his spirit, I was so glad to be a part of it.
Made roast beef, mashed potatoes, veggies and bread rolls
Took a little nap, my girlie looked like a teenager today...

That does it for another weekend around here :)

Review of The Gift Of Love

Amy Clipston's open and honest recounting of her journey through so many intense tragedies and heavy demands stripped my heart bear right down to it's core with compassion, sympathy, and, in so many cases, empathy.

Amy and her husband, Joe met when Amy was reeling from her father's stoke. Their married life began dealing with the health problems in Amy's family. But soon something totally unexpected happened. Joe had kidney disease and needed a new kidney. Their life would soon become a roller coaster of dialysis, medical bills, and poor health. But despite all of the stress and heartache, their marriage survived and came out on the other end stronger. Amy also became an author during this time. It provided an escape from the routine and provided some of the extra income they would need.

Amy Clipston shares her family’s journey through the kidney transplant. She opens her heart to readers sharing the ups and downs of the experience. Readers walk away understanding the importance of organ and blood donation.

I highly recommend this heartwarming book to everyone.

I received this book for my honest review, all thoughts are my own.

2) Brooke is away with friends for the weekend, I miss her but I'm glad to be alone with my hubby wubby.

3) I love that one of my co workers is a friend from church and we talk alot, it is nice to have that connection.
3) Our church is hosting a church dinner for some surrounding churches so saturday will be spent there, I think i have it all planned and we are good to go.

Truthful Thursday- If you could go back in time and do something different, what would you do

If you are new here, jump over here and read what Truthful Thursdays are about:

6) If you could go back in time and do something different, what would you do?

So many things I would change, but the biggest would be when I moved to a new city 8 hours away from my family for the first time ever being alone and with a room mate, I got very very home sick and I would have fought it, but I didn't, i dropped out of college and moved home( I finished later in life)
When your parents tell you to stay in school, STAY in SCHOOL..
I would love to go back to school now and do nursing but I am not wanting another student loan, mine is all paid off, and I don't want that debt again , but who knows what the future holds.

It would be incredible to be a professional student and get paid full time for going to school and that would be  my job, haha.
I could never be a teacher, I cannot imagine dealing with kids every day like that, there is a reason that I have one kid, haha...
I look up to teachers , they are incredible, I know an awesome teacher, you can visit her right here

What would you do?

Wednesdays for Women- Week 4- Patience

{To Inspire and Encourage}

For the next few weeks I want to share a little study about the Fruit of the Spirit.
Week Four: PATIENCE

Patience- this is one we can all say one time or another we lost..

as a mom on a daily basis, i have to apologize and ask her to forgive me because I lost my patience with her,
it is easy for us to loose patience with our spouse because they are "spending to much time playing a game and not with us"
we can loose our patience with our friends, - they say they will be there at a particular time and guess what they don't show up
we loose patience with God because when we pray, we want it to be done now;
we wait 9 months for our new baby and every day from about 7 months on, we complain.. I am to hot, i'm to fat, i can't move... yet when we see that new baby everything is forgotten
we live in a generation when people want a microwave life- instantly, they do not want a slow cooker life.
In a small sense we wait in line for a vanilla latte, we wait for our car to fill up with gas, we wait for the cable guy to show up (between 8 and 12…ha! usually it’s 2:10). In a bigger sense we wait to meet the man of our dreams, we wait nine months for our baby to be born, we wait for a job promotion or a pay increase. Waiting is a fact of life on earth, if we have patience this waiting is easier.
Hmmm… perhaps the Lord is saying to us today — Be patient my child, if you wait on me I will give you a treat!
WE need Patience on a daily and even some times by the minute.
Do you consider your self a Patient  person

Marriage

We got married on May 4th, 2002- i loved him from the day I met him, he has always been my soul mate and best friend.

I wanted to share some marriage advice that works for us, we have a really good marriage but like anything it takes work.

1) Never go to bed upset- if you have a fight and even if he/she don't want to talk, tell them you love them and you are sorry about the fight, tell them you love them and leave it at that, don't bring it up again- let it go.

2) Budget- 95% of couples argue over money, you need to sit down together and create a budget, then you both know what money is coming in and what is going out.

3)  Communicate- I struggle with this one, I assume to much, just because I want to do something, does not mean he does, so I need to communicate with him and let him know I want to do a certain thing and ninety percent of the time he will do it too

4) Spend time together- make time for each other each day, find a topic for a conversation,  take a weekly date, it is very important to date your spouse, you dated before marriage, why not after? I look forward to weekly date nights, it don't always have to be spending money, there are a lot of free date ideas ( walk, play a game, dinner picnic at a park, have a at home coffee break etc)

5) Hug and kiss often- we never leave for work without doing this.

6) Say I Love you- Often!! I tell him several times a day I love him and he does the same

7) Compromise- you won't always want to do what the other person wants to do, so find something you both are ok with and do that. You are no longer 2 but 1 and you have to think of the other person

8) Sex- it isn't a topic that is spoken about a lot, but it is very important to please your spouse,  we all have needs that we need satisfied.

9) Dont Criticize him/her- lift them up, praise them, let them know you appreciate what they do for you, how they work hard for your family, let him/her know this.

10) Don't use the "D" word (divorce, that is). Even in the heat of an argument, avoid threatening to pack your bags or head to the lawyer's office. Besides the "D" word being downright hurtful, repeated warnings may result in a spouse calling the other's bluff. "We act as if the intensity of our anger gives us license to say or do anything," says Dr. Lerner. "But threatening divorce is never useful, and it only makes the probability of separation more likely."

I am sure there are more that can make a marriage, I am so thankful for the Godly man I married, my best friend and my soul mate.
