When I grow up

Do you remember in school when you were younger and teachers would have you tell them what you wanted to be when you grew up-

I started out as wanting to be a teacher, then grade 9 I wanted to be a truck driver with the big 18 wheels rolling me down the road..
Grade 10-12- I had my heart set on a mortician, it was my dream job I thought, then for some odd reason in College I decided to do Business Administration, but I got homesick and dropped out and moved home… was home for a couple weeks and then went to a new college and Office Administration.

Yeah I finished that course, I got a job right away with the police office, I loved the job so much, it was a 1 year term and I Loved it .
Then I got pregnant and stayed home for 2 years… and since then I not know what I want to do with my life..

I would love to work in a Law office and be the receptionist, but I want it to be a busy office where I have lots of work to do.

There are many things I would love to do… nurse, paramedic, dentist- but am I told old now?

I was never one who did super well in school, it just do not come easy to me, and now that I’m older, I think it will be much harder or maybe it will be easier.

My teacher friends, any advice?

I have had a lot of jobs in my short working life, a lot of those are because they are temp jobs and or contracts, I am now ready for a career.

  1. Wow, well it seems like you just arent' sure what you want to do. Are you thinking of going back to school for it? Its hard to feel like you are at a crossroads and don't know where life is taking you. I hope you can find something excitig and fullfilling to do.

  3. I'd definitely just suggest finding what you're passionate about first. Maybe it's even blogging. If you put legit time, effort and research into that, you could make it a career. There are lots of people who make a great profit blogging if it's something your passionate about!

  4. Terri, I HIGHLY recommend you look into whether or not there is a "Work NB" program. We have WorkBC in BC and there's WorkAlberta. If you are underemployed or unemployed they will do personality testing to see what your aptitudes are, putting you in classes to work on your resume, interview skills, etc and may even find you getting trained/ going to school. It's all covered by the gov. Seriously, it's so worth it.
