Friday:
I worked and was so tired by 5 pm, but we went to dinner with a friend, she was struggling today, was very homesick so we hung out with her and had a good time, did some shopping as well
watched some Netflix and just chilled, relaxing friday night.
Saturday:
We went to a birthday party for a guy that is like a grandpa to Brooke- he turned 80 today. It was a great time with some delicious food and to see family that we have not saw in a while.
Hubby and I went on a grocery date.. I need to stop buying groceries so much, i can barely fit anything in my fridge, and I feel guilty that we have so much food and there are so people hungry int his world.. I go every week mainly to get fresh fruit and veggies, but I always end up spending like $90-120 each week. How often do you grocery shop? on top of that we still go out to eat once or twice, I know right, it is nuts.
We went our of town around 7:30 pm and went to a youth bonfire, i know we are not youth but we needed to drive some youth, it was super nice evening with some pretty awesome youth.
We played guitar, had smores, hot dogs, soda, chips etc.. it was so nice.
Once we got home I remembered I needed to make a dish for the Leadership pot luck tomorrow,so I made Leslie’s famous pasta salad, and I thought about her while I was making it, I miss that girl so much. Last night grief sucker punched me so hard when I was thinking about her.
Today also marked 20 years since our first date, yes I was only 13, him 14, but I knew that first day I met him a month or so previous to our first date, I was going to marry him and right I was. It gets sweeter and sweeter every day.
Sunday:
We had morning service, then a leadership pot luck, came home to nap and then back to church for 5 pm for music practice.
After service we went to mcd's with Rachel, I am so glad she is back for the new school year.
Have a great week friends
seems to me that you had a busy productive weekend! :D
ReplyDeleteThat is a cool cake and happy bday to him! What a lovely couple! OMG I am JUST like you I buy a lot of groceries and feel guilty for those with no food. :(
ReplyDeleteThe bonfire looks amazing I can't wait for us to start doing that too! We did a few last Fall - its getting to be that season again!
I go weekly, too. Like you, I always end up buying more. The cake looks delicious!
ReplyDeleteMy husband and I did the same thing on Friday night. We made some homemade guac and had a Netflix marathon!
ReplyDeleteThat bonfire looks so cool. I've never been to one!
ReplyDeleteOh and homemade guacamole is my favorite addition to a taco!
Sounds like a fun-filled weekend. A bonfire sounds great!
ReplyDeleteYep, our weekend plans usually consist of at least one evening with Netflix after our son goes to bed (although I always have trouble staying awake). Looks like you had a lovely weekend!
ReplyDeleteI so appreciate the older people in my daughter's life. Her grandparents are wonderful but I love that there are non-family members who invest in our kids' life as well. Sounds like a full, good weekend!
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like a nice weekend. 80! What a great birthday to celebrate. Love the photo. So much happiness.
ReplyDeleteI thought I was the only person I knew who went on grocery dates with their hubby! It is the only time we get to be alone anymore.
ReplyDeleteI go weekly. I have a small car, so I can't fit it all in otherwise.
ReplyDeleteThis sounded like a really nice week. It's great that you were able to spend some quality time with family and friends.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad that you had a fabulous week. I love the most of your day is when you're in a bonfire, I've never experienced it yet.
ReplyDeleteThat's amazing that you met your spouse so young, I met mine at 17 and I thought that was young! Sounds like you have been having a fabulous time lately, looking forward to hearing more adventures!
ReplyDeleteWow, great story love the bonfire , especially the story how you met your spouse ...Touching.
ReplyDeleteI love the story about your grocery trip :) I always buy things I don't really need..
ReplyDeleteRIKA
What a busy week indeed! Glad you are doing great with all of it!
ReplyDeleteha I love that you mark the first date as a reason to celebrate. :) And pasta salad, did you say? mm hmm I do love a good pasta salad!
ReplyDeleteHappy 80th birthday to your beloved! Groceries are like a mother's weakness. Lol. I can't help but enjoy myself whenever I enter a grocery too.
ReplyDeleteI go weekly to do our grocery shopping and sometimes I may need to go during the week as well to top up. I like you feel guilty that I end up having so much. I really try to not waste anything.
ReplyDeleteI go grocery shopping sometimes daily! We spend about $200 a week on groceries, if not more. We're a family of four and my boys are big eaters lol
ReplyDeleteI just love bonfires with roasted marshmallows! Great comfort food for me. one thing i hate outdoors though are the pestering mosquitoes and occasional flies.
ReplyDeleteI hate to know how much I spend on groceries per week. It seems like I'm going to the grocery store everyday!
ReplyDeleteAlthough I like to relax on weekends, I like to have eventful weekends like yours sometimes. It is memorable and makes end of summer special.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you had a wonderful weekend! I hope that you are having a wonderful week so far!
ReplyDeleteWow. That is a lot of money to spend a week. I have fed a family of 5 on less than that per week. Cute idea to go on grocery dates with hubby though.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like a weekend well spent! I love bonfires. They're a great way to relax and unwind.
ReplyDeleteSounds like you had a wonderful weekend well spent with people that you love!!
