Three ways schools are using technology to help with learning

Technology has become a part of all aspects of our daily lives. From phones to TVs and computers to
tablets, the advancement of technology has influenced activities we involve ourselves in. Technology
has also become a huge part of the school environment, adding to the learning experience of young
people and engaging them in a variety of ways. This article looks at how technology has improved
the school environment for young learners and provides a gateway into higher education
and more opportunities for the younger
generation in the future.

Making learning exciting
Children love to explore new things and appreciate being given the opportunity to do so.
Throughout the different age groups in the school environment, you’ll find a flurry of excitement in
each year group when a technical device is brought out. Technology gives children the option to get
creative if it has been approached in the right way by teachers  and educational professionals. In a school, technology is a great tool to develop innovative
and thinking skills, as well as allowing the child the freedom to explore ideas with the help of an
interactive device. Technology in the classroom has a direct correlation with motivation. You’ll be
surprised by how excited children get when they get given a chance to write on an interactive
whiteboard, or they can interact directly with an informative video or learning game online.
Technology stimulates the mind and motivates young learners to want to succeed, learn more and
engage in lessons, often with more interaction and quicker results.

Encouraging independent learning
The use of technology in schools is also a great way to encourage learners to think for themselves
and have the confidence to explore independently. Using technology in lessons means students
become more open to interacting with their peers, verbalizing their ideas and engaging with the
work more. As an educational institute, there are a number of articles a number of articles here
that look into technical features to help you, and there
are also plenty of apps that are child-friendly to implement into lessons. Children who are presented
with the opportunity to learn using technology develop their skills further and are less likely to be
affected by the various learning styles of other children. This is because technology can adapt to
their own learning styles and help with their skills.

Support children with Special Educational Needs
Children with SEN (special educational needs) often benefit from one-to-one learning with a teacher
or a learning mentor to help develop their skills at their own pace. Many SEN children have complex
needs and can often struggle with daily tasks in the classroom. Differentiation is key in terms of
learning, and with technological devices and learning software, SEN children can access the work in a way that suits them. This means that the children can still access mainstream education but are less
likely to be hindered by the classroom environment. Technology is also a great way to make sure
everyone in the class has access to the work, as with a device the children can play educational
games for example together, with SEN children included in all aspects of the lessons. This will benefit everyone in the long run, especially as teachers will be able to assess their progress easily and
therefore get a better idea of how they have been improving in their school work.
