The WWW of Self-Improvement: Willpower, Worries, and Work

In the continual quest for self-improvement, focusing on specific areas of your life is a necessity. While you should always try and view yourself holistically, the main issues that you face are often most obvious when you examine in area in detail. You can spot things at close-range that you might not have realized are impacting how you live your life.

There are three key areas that anyone interested in self-improvement needs to master. Coincidentally, they all begin with the letter W-- which should help you to remember them. Zoning in on these areas and identifying the issues they may be causing you is vital, so without further ado, let’s introduce the Ws that are ruling your world…

Worries

Anxiety is a natural part of life; few of us drift through life, unburdened by our choices, by the little doubts that nag in the back of our mind. Left to its own devices, “normal” anxiety can spiral into anxiety disorders and panic attacks.

Learning to identify the difference between “standard” worries, and worries that you are focusing on disproportionately, is the key to improving your anxiety levels. For example, it’s normal to worry about a big project you have at work, or how you’re going to be able to afford a house. It’s less normal -- for want of a better word -- to worry about tiny details, such as what people think of you, and whether your outfit is appropriate.

If you find that your mind often drifts onto these small, minute details, then take this as a sign that your worries are getting out of control. Try taking the anxiety quiz at https://patient.info; if this suggests you’re struggling, then seek medical assistance.

Willpower

We need willpower to control far more areas of our life than we otherwise might think. We all know that it takes willpower to quit smoking, to grab vaping supplies from https://www.ecigwizard.com/ and make the switch; we know we need willpower to lose weight-- but these aren’t all the issues we require willpower for.

We need willpower to make the best choices for our life. We need willpower to embolden us to be brave, to stick to something we believe in, to trust our own instincts. Willpower stems from having a strong sense of self confidence, in believing that you can do anything that you set your mind to. Work on your self confidence, and the willpower and strength you need will follow naturally.

Work

The idea that we should work to live, rather than live to work, is a popular one-- but how seriously do you trust it? So many of us find our lives being swamped by work, especially given the insecurity of the current job market. We hang on to the jobs we have, go above and beyond, and entirely forget about any desire we might once have had for a manageable work/life balance.

Righting this wrong isn’t easy; no one can deny that you need money to survive. However, focus on trying to be kinder to yourself and learning to say no if you have too much on your plate. This is easier to do if you have your willpower and your worries in hand; ultimately, all of the Ws lead back to one another.

By choosing to focus on these three specific areas of your life, you should see improvements in your entire attitude. Why not give it a try, and see what a difference it could make to you?
