6 Fun and Free Activities that are Good for Your Soul

In today’s world, it’s a little difficult to even imagine having fun without spending a ton of money. If you take a look at Instagram, it seems like everyone is taking trips to exotic beaches, dining at expensive restaurants, and generally looking like they either live in the lap of luxury, or are at least pretending that they do. But how can you have some meaningful fun when you’re short on cash or just don’t want to spend a ton of it to have a nice time? Well, the best kind of activities are actually relaxing, completely free, and they’re so pleasurable you’ll be wondering why you never indulged in them before. Eager to know what they are? Pretend you’re a tourist in your own city
When you really think about it, how well do you know your own town? When you’re a tourist somewhere you get to explore that city and enjoy its most beautiful sights, but when you’re a resident a lot of those pretty things pass you by. You forget they’re even there, and you don’t bother to learn much about the history and the culture that surrounds you. So, why not learn more? Regardless of where you live, you’re bound to find a ton of museums and galleries that grant free entrance, and there’s a lot of pleasure in simply walking down the streets and trying to find corners you’ve never seen before. Let the sights of your own town lift your spirits. 

Let a book take you on an adventure

Go to your local library, or check out sites like Project Gutenberg that offer free e-books for anyone to download and use. You can find a good classic that you’ve been meaning to read, or a completely unexpected book that catches your attention. Make some hot tea, sit down on a comfy sofa, and let the book transport you to a world of imagination and adventure. Your soul will be very happy for the opportunity. 
Feel the sea breeze on your face as you surf
If you live near a beach and the weather is good, then you simply have to indulge in some surfing. Bring your own board in a nice and durable Ocean and Earth cover, do some stretching exercises, and then ride the waves. This activity is fun and exciting, but it’s also a pretty good workout. It’s particularly good to do when you’re stressed because the smell of sea air and the sound of the ocean are soothing. 

Let your feet take you through the forest
Meditation is another free activity that will nourish both your body and your soul, especially if you try walking meditation. Pick a spot in nature or try a hiking trail in the forest, and let the rhythmic sound of your steps calm you down. Breathe deeply and relax. 
Have a self-care day
Staying in and doing something nice for yourself is a very good way to get rid of tension. Try doing a workout, and then having a long, luxuriously warm bath. Put a few drops of essential oils in it and inhale the scents, put a DIY mask on your face to nourish your skin, and close your eyes as you listen to some pleasant music. 

Organize a movie marathon

The most fun thing to do is invite your friends over, especially if you haven’t seen them in a while. Find some good movies to watch, make popcorn, and then let the atmosphere take you. You’ll laugh, tease each other, and have a great evening right there. Staying in means you don’t have to act a certain way or keep quiet. You can do whatever you want to because you’ll be alone with your buddies, bonding and having simple fun.
