Family update

Every few months I like to do a recap on our family and what's been going on over here, I think it is nice that I can look back if need to and see what happened at such a time .. so today I wanted to share some family updates..

The Little Lady- who just happens to be taller then me, although at 5"3, that isn't a hard task to be taller then myself, she is becoming quite the lady and tomorrow she is going to take her babysitters course, after that she can officially stay home alone for up to 2 hours, she cannot have friends here or stay longer then that until she turns 12, i am not excited about her being alone but she enjoys it, said she has her music up load and can do her own thing... ( this mommy is sobbing in a corner).
Her teacher's say she is an absolute delight to be in class with, her friends at school all want her to be in their group for projects etc. I use to think I had a busy social life, well not at all compared to her.. she has had 2 sleep overs this week, she got invited to a movie and a sliding party, it is March Break over here, she has been fully enjoying her self.
She is in love with Giraffe's and has quite the collection of them, her bedroom theme is Paris, we just finished doing that and she loves it, not sure the giraffe's and the Paris theme goes well together but that is what she wanted, what she wants, she ( usually gets)
She has been dealing with a lot of head aches so we took her to the chiropractor today after taking her to have her eyes tested and no glasses needed, the chiro said she needs a couple of adjustments and she should be good as new.

The Mr- The greatest man in the entire world.  He has been having some back issues and right now he is in a lot of pain from having some adjustments done, the chiro said he should have about 40 sessions to get everything fixed up properly, that is a huge chunk of change.  We are thankful for good insurance that will cover up to $1000.
His current contract is up in July, when we moved here in 2012, July of 2015 felt so far away but now it is nearly here and they want to extend him, he will probably take the extension until the following March 2016, then we are not sure where we may go or do, nothing is definite right now so I won't share any more details until I know more.
besides all his regular work schedule he is the media director at church, he does the web site, makes programs to keep things running smoothly etc, I help him with the media and most times I am doing the slide show etc.

Me- I am working still at 10-7 pm, I really do not like this shift but hey, it is a job and it brings in money. I hope it gets changed back soon though to my normal hours.  I do not have my own dealership anymore, they took me off and wanted to have me as a floater, which means I learn all dealerships within our Business Development Center and I fill in when people are sick, the down side is that I never know where I am going to be per day, but the fun part is I learn new things all the time and it is never boring.
My new medication is kinda working, much slower then we had originally anticipated, it is mainly used for urgency which I do not have a lot of, I need something for the pain, something to settle my pain down at nights when It is unbearable. Let's hope something good comes along soon.
I have an interview coming up on Monday that I very much want this job, its for an admin position with a company that is not to far from where I live now and the schedule is 8:30- 4:30, Monday to Friday so off course I want it. I appreciate the good luck vibes sent my way.
Any questions you have for my family, ask them below and I will answer them soon

Wife talk- 10 Keys To Making A Great Marriage:

10 Keys To Making A Great Marriage:

1. Put God first~ I once read a poem- Marriage Takes Three, so true, we need God to be in our marriages.

2. Love one another with actions~ Do things to make their lives easier- pack his lunch on the morning he/she is running late etc.

3. Apologize often~ Even if you feel you are not to blame, apologize, it will make you both feel better

4. Give generously~ Give of your self, satisfy each other's needs.

5. Live simply~ Exactly as it says

6. Forgive quickly~ Don't let fights go on and on, forgive, talk and move on

7. Always be kind~ Do not air your dirty laundry to your friends or family, it will hurt your spouse to know you told someone, so be kind to him.

8. Don't blame~ There is nothing gained by throwing the blame around, refer to # 3 and #6.

9. Touch each other~ I make it a point to hug him first thing in the morning and last thing I do at night, I love when we touch, makes me feel so close.

10. Listen more than speak~ Let him/her talk, do not interrupt, let them get it all out then offer some advice if they asked.

Working from home- Pro's and Con's

I have wanted to write this post for a while, finally getting around to it now

Some of you know that I work mainly from home, I have a home office and I sit in there mainly all day with my phone and computer, I book appointments for a dealership.. customers call me and I call them.
I wanted to list some Pro's and Con's because everyone I talk to says... oh wow, that is awesome to work from home

Pro's:
- work in your PJ's - although I only do that on Monday's- every other day I get up and get dressed and even wear heels.
- You are able to throw in some laundry, start dinner, general tidy of the house
- You can take a nap at lunch time if you want ( I do)
- No commute
- No one to look over your shoulder
- you can write of a portion of your home office expenses on your taxes
- Sleep in longer- I get up with just enough time to get to the office and turn on the computer, most days I eat breakfast while scrolling thru my emails first in the morning

Con's:
- You can't go thru a drive thru somewhere to get coffee ( well you can but why go out;) )
- You do not see people all day long- last week I was inside all week, never went out for anything until Saturday,  I get cabin fever .- thankful for the office chat program we have and phones
- hard to stay focused all day when no one knows what you are doing
- You can never escape the office and go home, because you are already there
- working from home can be messy and will take up an entire spare room in your home
- You do not get face to face time with your co workers so it is difficult to see if there are new projects you would be interested in

Tips for working at home:
Working out of your home can be a great solution for some people, I have worked in an office and in my own home, I think it takes special discipline to work at home to work at home. You need to ask yourself- this this work style fit in with what I want and how I can be most effective

If you do work out of your home, it is important to remember:
  • Maintain a presence at the main office. Report in often and let your boss know you are alive and productive.
  • Treat your study (or wherever you work) like a real office. Close the door at 6 p.m. and don't open it until you are beginning work the next morning.
  • Get dressed as you would for work and be consistent with your hours. Act like you are at the office and not at home, and you stand a good chance of actually being productive.

Weekend Recap

Friday:
Worked til 7 pm, Brooke went to a friends house for a sleep over and hubby made a reservations at Montana's- it is Canada's version of Texas Roadhouse ( My absolute favourite in the world) - True fact speaking of yummy steak restaurants- up til vacation last year I had never tasted a steak- always thought I never liked it, but my first taste it was love at first taste and now I can't get enough- he knows my love language for sure. We came home around 10, watched some TV, he went to bed early, he has been dealing with a bad back, hoping he feels better soon

Saturday:
Didn't do a whole lot in the morning, we had to pick Brooke up around lunch time, then we had to drive out of town to get my new medication, went to McDonalds and ate on the road...
did some grocery shopping, went to Michael's, I needed a couple of things for Ladies Tea that I am hosting on Tuesday Night, took a nap when I got home, woke up to Andrew cooking chilli and friends wanted to come over for chilli and nachos, we watched hockey with them, I stayed up to late again watching Grounded for Life.

Sunday:
Welcome March! Beautiful Spring like morning.
Went to AM service, I was excited to get to be the first one to use our new projector, last sunday the old one stopped working suddenly, the new one is so nice and tiny and I like it.
Made a stuffed roasted chicken for lunch, took a normal sunday afternoon nap, went back to PM service,  we had guests in today and it was a great weekend.

Have a great week!!!
