14 Years of you and I

14 years ago in front of family and friends we repeated our vows that would last a lifetime.

  14 years = 168 months
14 years = 730 weeks
14 years = 5010 days
and counting every day with you

You are the love of my life
You are the icing on my cupcake
You are the peanut for my jelly
You are the sun to my shine

I love you for what you are to me, how you are the other half of me. You allow me to be me. You've helped me achieve my dreams. I reach further knowing if I fall you'll be there to catch me.
You've given me the greatest gift I can ever know. The gift of motherhood.
The life we've created together was made out of pure love. We are raising our daughter with pure love.
And, one day we will smile at each other knowingly as she finds her own soul mate.
Thank you my love for the brilliant life we've created together. Thank you for making all my dreams come true.

My words fall short to express what my heart really feel so deeply. You love me just the way God created me, with every scar and imperfection. You can see past my outward flaws into the depths of my heart and you love me just the same. Just one look or a hug from you I know everything will be ok.

I always share my love story on this day so here it goes, if you read it before, you can certainly skip it. :
Our love story begins when i was 13 and he was 14
Yes i knew that young…

My cousin invited me to go to a youth camp with her
i have seldom been away from my parents and this was several hours away
But they reluctantly let me go…

The first night of camp, i sat across from this cute guy and i asked him to "please pass the water", he did and smiled…
Wow, in the instant i fell in love with him, YES at 13..
I told my cousin that i was marrying him and they laughed at me.. but I knew in my heart he was the one.

I went home and didn't speak more to him until Sept when i went to the mail box and there was a letter address to Terri Lynn White- so not my last name but i assumed they were looking for me…:p
This was a hand written letter from him, the first few years letters weren't anything more then pen pals and that was ok to he got my name straight as well, still tease him about that.

3 year later he called me on the telephone( most of our relationship was long distance) , i was shocked and had no idea what to say.. besides the fact that everyone was home and i was on the only phone in the house.. i was mortified and scared, embarrassed
and there was a lot of silence, i thought for sure i wouldn't hear from him again. A few weeks later he called again, this time there wasn't as much silence, but still some.. hey, i was getting better. ( now he tells me he wants that silence back, haha)

Several months before his high school graduation he asked me to be his girlfriend, the way he said it was so sweet though..  he said… Spring, when a young man's fancy, turns to love, Terri, will you be my girlfriend? I cried so hard, it was the sweetest thing ever heard.

He invited me to go to his high school graduation, while at his high school graduation we went for a walk on some trail ( just the two of us, we seldom got alone- which is a good thing really) while on that trail he turned to me and said " do you know what i would like to do right now, i said i have no idea, he said come closer, i will show you, We then shared our first kiss…. he is so romantic.

The next year i graduated high school and asked him to be my date (off course), we had a great time, the more i was with him, the more i loved him.

I moved to where he lived for school, and while there i became so homesick that i came back home and went to school closer to my parents, a few days before i left he gave me flowers for my birthday, i remember the night before i left, he looked at me and i thought i had lost him forever, but thankfully i was wrong.
It took me some time to get over what ever i was dealing with, and i went a while with no contact with him because had to make sure this was what i needed and wanted. I missed him so much during that time.
I was very very thankful to have this amazing man in my life.

When he graduated university, he came to visit me for 2 weeks, we had such a great time, it was also during that time that my dad got him a full time job with the local ambulance service ( not what he went to university for), he took the job to be close to me,
January 2002 while walking in a snow storm, he proposed to me, it was the most romantic thing ever, i cried again and couldn't believe it was actually true, i kept saying is this for real..

We got married May 4th.   We  had a big wedding, with our friends and family  and it was the best day of my life.

I love him more now then that first day i saw him, i fall more in love each moment I'm around him

We have one daughter and he is an awesome daddy to her.

I am thankful to God that he brought me this man.

I love you now and forever.

Decorating the new house

When everything was final with the new house, I knew Brooke was going to want us to paint her room and I also want to paint our bedroom and the dining room at some point.

The first change will be Brooke's room, being the princess she is off course it will be. My dad will come to paint for her and I will gather things to decorate it.
First thing I need to find for her is black out blinds, the child has a rough time with going to sleep in the summer time, so I was browsing a website and I came across the black out blinds that are great. They have a great supply of disney theme blinds, Brooke is 12 so she wouldn't want that but they are perfect for the younger kids.

She wants to keep her Paris theme, her bedding is black and white with a Eiffel tower and Paris in red, so we are going to stay with that theme. We may do a red accent wall but we are not for sure on that now, what are your thoughts on the accent wall? We are going to do all black furniture with red fully pillows, I cannot wait to get this room ready for her, it will be part of her Birthday present as well

Weekend Recap

Friday:
I had a long weekend as I was on a vacation day on Friday.  Thanks to my boss who decided I have done a lot of work in the past three weeks and I should take Friday off. #mybossisbetterthenyours
I did absolutely nothing all day.. I slept in, went for a walk, cleaned the house, went for snap and did next to nothing.  Makes for a great day.  Brooke had youth at church... They had a service and Brooke played the piano,  hubby and I had a date night in, we ordered Greek food... Hubby wasn't feeling well so we ate in front of the T.V while watching basketball.

Saturday:
Saturday began early. We met a friend from back home for breakfast. Then went grocery shopping and hung out With a friend who was having a rough day, went to Michael's, I can spend forever in that store.

My best friend and I went out to dinner for her belated birthday, we also went shopping. It was nice to hang out with her.
The food was so good, we went to a new place that neither of us were there before. we shared an app- potato skins with goat cheese, for main course I had:
It was fish cakes with dill and horse relish, rice with quinoa, and a garden salad
Then we shared a dessert- we went all out, it was so delicious.

Sunday:
We had no set up as we were at our actual church building today, then we had a leadership meeting that was so great.

Moses ( our son) spoke this morning, I love this boy like my own blood child, in fact he is Brooke's older brother as far as she is concerned and we consider him our child. I am spot proud of his speaking to us, he does a great job.

This is also the graduation weekend at the bible school, so our friends came down to be with their son, so we went out for pizza, I crave pizza so it was a welcome treat.
She babysat me, sang at my wedding etc, now her daughter and Brooke are BFF's.

This is her daughter in law to be, they are getting married in August.

Now I am off to bed and another week has begun.

Busy week over this way:
Monday- I work and then volunteer
Tuesday- Work and focus group
Wednesday- Work and small group and our 14th Anniversary
Thursday- Movie with a friend
Friday-
Saturday- shopping for a baby shower, then a play with Brooke and then we go out to celebrate our anniversary..

Phew, I am tired just thinking about it.

Review: Black and White Bible, Black and Blue Wife

The title of this book caught my eye...
There are many people who suffer from Domestic abuse.

In 1967 Ruth Tucker fell in love. She was at Word of Life Island in the heart of the Adirondacks when she met a tall, handsome young man who swept her off her feet. Romance blossomed and was followed by walks, talks, letters, and courtship. Even at this time she began to notice concerns, little warning signs that perhaps this man was too demanding and controlling. But in the blush of young love she overlooked his flaws and soon they were married.

They settled into life together, she as an academic and he as a pastor. It did not take long before she was exposed to all manner of abuse—emotional, spiritual, physical, and sexual. For 19 years she endured this marriage before she finally escaped. They were later divorced. She tells this biographical account throughout the book, pausing often to draw lessons from it.

Review: If my people

Recently I had the pleasure of receiving a copy of the book If My People: A Prayer Guide for Our Nation to review.  This lovely little book is a forty day journey of prayer for our nation. The focus of the book is religious freedoms.  The author makes the point that many of our forefathers went to great lengths to protect the ability to worship freely, and now those freedoms are in jeopardy of being taken away for Christians.

In terms of its organization and structure, the book as a whole contains 40 days worth of prayer along with various other interludes that examine how American leaders, including several presidents, saw God’s word

Each of the 40 days of devotion take two very small pocket-sized pages beginning with a short prayer, then showing a verse or short passage on the first page, then the second page begins with a different verse or short passage and a short explanation of the need for that particular prayer.

There are insets on Roosevelt’s four freedoms, the foundation of much of the contemporary push for socialism in the name of justice within our society, and also insets on why we should vote, a subject that many of the explanations discuss in one form or another. The book, as a whole, takes less than 120 pages to give 40 days worth of praying over the political fate of our country.
