Three signs that it may be time to slow down a little

You know what they say, you're only ever as young as you feel! That's great advice to be sure, and you should never let anyone tell you that your age should dictate what you do and how you feel. Of course, there does come a time when you might have to admit that certain things are behind you a little bit. We all have those moments when we realise that we're not necessarily going to be able to do a lot of the same things that we've always done before. With that in mind, here are a few signs that it might be time to slow down and take it a little bit easier.

Three-day hangovers

Pretty much everyone likes going out for a drink or two every now and then, and when you're younger, there's no reason why one or two can't occasionally turn into three or four. A night out on the tiles with friends can be good for you, and when you're young, it's incredibly easy to bounce back from it. However, a lot of people reach the point when bouncing back is a lot harder than it was. A headache and the desire to eat greasy food is one thing, but a three-day hangover that puts you out of commision is never worth it. Aches and pains

When you're young, it's easy to feel totally indestructible. However, as you get older, you start to become increasingly aware of your body. You don't even need to be that old to start feeling this way. It might be a little bit of an ache in your joints here, or a little extra soreness after a gym session there, but there comes a time when it's clear that you might just need to give your body more of a rest than you used to. After all, it's better to take it easy than to keep pushing yourself and risk doing your body some real damage.

Grown-up responsibilities

Of course, it might not be your body that's forcing you to slow down but your circumstances. After all, living on the edge is one thing, but it's not exactly the best way to do things when you've got genuine responsibilities. Sure, calling in sick at work when you're hungover might be vaguely acceptable when you're 21, but when you've got bills to pay and kids to take care of, that's not going to fly. One of the toughest things about getting older is accepting that sometimes you're going to have to make smart decisions rather than just doing whatever you want.

Of course, don't assume that your life is suddenly going to become boring and quiet just because you're not necessarily able to live the same way that you did when you were young. After all, there's no reason why you can't find yourself a happy medium between being young and crazy and staying in every night doing jigsaw puzzles.
